Eh? Since when do un-ironed trousers equate to being "dressed like a tramp"? And what makes you think the OP "stumbled in" and then "lurched around"?0 -
... all that marching..
yes, that is what it would have been, see here

This is how I see it, you walk in the store not looking your best, a security guard(on not much over minimum wage and probably not the most thorough training) has been told by his manager not to let any undesirables in, sees you from a distance, comes over and decided actually you're fine and tells you to Carry on.
Fair enough really.0 -

This happened to us in Sainsbugs once years ago. Security guard refused us to purchase alcohol as he thought we were intoxicated. I think it was because he witnessed up having a slight tiff in the toilet-roll aisle.
I was also livid because a) i had drunk no alcohol and b) i had driven there. I went to see the manager and said that they should call the police as i was about to drive home. They obviously weren't that bothered as they didn't.
on a second note, recently an elderly friend went with her teenage granddaughter to aldos get a few bits with which to make a trifle - at the till she handed the heavy bits (including the bottle of sherry) to her granddaughter to hold as there is no room at the end of the tills in there - they then refused to let her buy the sherry as they thought she was buying it for her to drink!0 -

The OP was buying groceries, not alcohol.0 -
I admittedly must have mumbled to myself in a low voice about how i just want to get in and out without having to play hide and seek to get my groceries
I can imagine a lot was all down this this, you say low voice but you wouldn't have mentioned it unless you knew it was obviously heard.
Then you did this.In a much louder voice after getting the stuff that i required i spoke to an assistant going into the office , very much in earshot of the others waiting in the queue, i mentioned what had happened to him and suggested to him that if Mr Aldi disaproves of people drinking so much, then it might be a good idea not to sell the stuff in the first place.
If you go around behaving like that don't be surprised if people don't want you there.0
