Hi,
I bought my iPhone 5s contract with phones4u around the 16th may with the promise of a free early upgrade.
I was reluctent to upgrade as i was waiting for the iphone 6 (didnt see the point of upgrade when the new one was just around the corner), so i held out for several weeks (he worked within the currys pc world i work in) but after several weeks he told me that if i did the upgrade with him that after the first 6 months i would able to upgrade free of charge to the new iphone (he said i may just have to pay £100 maybe £200 towards the phone which i was ok with as its what you would pay anyway) and he would pay out my current contract i had, which definetly peaked my intrest.
I finaly agreed to the new contract with the promise that i could upgrade, which i kept asking him about just to make sure, i even asked him to write it on the contract for me, which he did write "free early upgrade" which at the time seemed ok to me. but eventualy he changed store and after speaking to the guys that came after him (before they closed down) they said that it was a promise he most likely wouldnt be able to keep due to the early upgrade charge which had me worried. After looking back at my contract noticed that the wording on his promise didnt specify the early upgrade he promised but the early upgrade he did on my contract at the time, but i thought i would wait the six months and then confront him with the hope that he could somehow follow through.
The problem i have know though is that phones4u has closed down, and he know works for dixons carphone. i spoke to a lady from ee in my local brance where she also was baffelled at the promise and explained that i would have to pay the early upgrade and that the sales rep who sold me the phone had missold.
I was hoping you would be able to help me with what i should do moving on, as i am know stuck with this contract which i didnt really wont in the first place, but agreed to on the promise of the free early upgrade.
Ben.

Phones4u used to buy out contracts early as they made money on the new contract. So unfortunately I don't think there is anything you can do? You should still get the 40% indirect staff discount though.
I was lucky as I upgraded 7 months early with Phones4u only a couple of weeks ago and they paid my early upgrade fee plus 40% off line rental.0 -
Both the contract and any wrong information you where given was by Phones4U and their employee .Any claim has now to be made via the administrators .
You cannot chase this guy for any recompense .0 -
yea indirect discount is fine.
i was speaking to some of the other P4U staff in my store the week before administration was announced and they were sceptical that he would be able to honour it as it would be way over the discount they could offer.
£52.99 pm (before indirect discount) contract, not sure if my ee indirect discount would make a difference to the early upgrade fee though.
so it would have either been £953.82 (full price) or 572.30 (indirect staff discount) to upgrade early
which from what I've been told he wouldn't have been able to do. 0 -
I do wonder if it was the aggro of sorting out Phone4U staff lies that played a part in the networks dropping them.0

I can't see them of upgrading that early. We used to upgrade 6 months early in our store. The early upgrade fee from ee didn't include the 40% off but I believe ee gives 25% off for upgrading early
Not sure how you would have upgraded early in 18 months time anyway as Phones4u contract with Dixons ended next year to make way for carphone warehouse.0 -

Given the lies the networks regularly employ I doubt it.0
