Life insurance

Hi everyone,

I am expecting my first child (actually due in a couple of days!) and my partner and i could really do with some help regarding life insurance policies.

I've looked online and compared some quotes, and i recently found this one called Best price Fs. Tempted to go with them because they don't charge commission and they are cheaper than the other sites i have looked at (the more to spend on baby clothes the better!) Best price Fs charge £20 to purchase a policy, where as cavendish are £35 and money world are £25 from what i can make out. I like MSE and usually go by the advice on here, but haven't been able to find any info about Best price Fs. I joined the forum to find out what you guys think/have you ever used them? The site looks pretty nice with names of providers i recognise but your input would be most helpful.

Thanks

So, how do they earn their money?

  • It seems that they charge £20 in order for you to purchase a life insurance policy on this site, other sites charge more. The monthly costs are lower than money supermarkets and other comparison sites.

It's a surprise to see you don't know how discount brokers earn their money and having to ask, bearing in mind the authoritative way you advise on life insurance.

Thanks Quentin. I've read the article previously. Ive found a site that is cheaper to buy the policy. It did provide quotes from a variety of insurance companies (i used L&G). The website was bestpricefs.co.uk, worked fine, all done now. Just hope i don't need a payout!!

    Dunstonh-

What i was looking for was the best value life insurance policy on a monthly basis, along with upfront admin fee.....
Ive looked around including the ones recommended by MSE. Im happy with what i've done at this point. Thanks for you help though!!
  • Thanks,

Im curious to see if you can beat the policy quoted with L&G.......
Im a female non smoker dob 24/6/74.
Ive had a quote and terms off L&g for £18.13 per month for £300,000 of cover over 20 years, on the bestpriceFs.co.uk website. I have to pay £20 to complete this purchase, where the standard rate is £22.99 pm for the cover. The site tells me that i save £1166.40 overt he term of the policy.....I
I'm all ears if you can beat this.......

    Why feed the rulebreaker/rogue broker?

(And they wonder why brokers get a rough ride here when they happily do all this till they are booted off)
