how much does a service for an astra do?

Cost of servicing will depend on which service interval it is and engine side. It will be a similar cost to any other car when it comes to serving.
I wouldn't describe an Astra as a small car. Its more a medium sided car.0 -
I am after a 1.3lt-1.5lt medium sized car, which one would you recommend for a used one of 8-10 years?0

Are you asking how much it costs?
I have a 1.6 Astra. Recent full service and mot from Vauxhall garage was around £200.0 -

For an 8-10 year car it's highly unlikely you'll be following the manufacturers service schedule beyond timing belt. So if servicing once a year - pollen, fuel, air & oil filter and new oil from a local garage probably £100-£130. A more 'proper' service including full inspection etc and from chains maybe £170. Main dealer anything from £200 upwards.
Seen some locals offering services for £45+vat+parts so could well come in <£100 but if you want a report on the cars state etc you'll be looking higher up in the food chain
Very general guesses there, depends on a lot of things.
Can't see there being a difference in price to service a 1.3 and 1.5. Maybe a 1.3 and a 2.5 because of the extra oil required for example. But wouldn't really factor this in so much when buying in your end of the market. Many more things to worry about than the oil change0 -
Do it yourself, enough guides online to help.0

Some places will service your car for £99. But all your going to get is an oil change and a check over to find more work they want to charge you for.
Proper service oil & filter, air filter, Plugs and maybe leads. Fuel filter, pollen filter, Brakes all cleaned etc etc..Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Couldn't agree more. Particularly something like an old Astra, piece of cake to service yourself. Invest in a Haynes manual and save yourself a fortune. I know a lot of folk advocate online guides, but I reckon the Haynes books are still better when you're grubbing about under the car covered in oil
Be that as it may, basic servicing on most "ordinary" cars is very simple, and if you have no DIY knowledge then a few night classes at your local college can reap great rewards.0 -
Service cost is just a part (and generally a relatively small one) of the cost of vehicle ownership. I certainly wouldn't buy a car based solely on it being cheap to service unless the purchase cost was extremely low, and even then other costs are likely to be much greater than servicing.0
