QUESTION:
You will see on my signature a nasty little thing called a 'college loan'. This was a loan I took out for college (duh!) and it was set at a 10 year term. I took it out in 2008 so it should be paid off by the same month in 2018. I have overpaid at various intervals and to various degrees over the years and, if I were to continue paying just the minimum payment, it will be cleared a whole year early in 2017 (I think actually around 13 months early).
I don't know if banks even entertain requests such as this BUT...
Should I enquire about reducing my minimum payment? At present my minimum payment if £177.08 and it always has been. To have a lower minimum payment would free up some cash for me to throw at the credit card I am snowballing first....

Hi auntie t2rry I don't often comment on such things but surely it's best to pay off the loan/card with the 5% interest first?
I can understand your desire to have money saved, but if you used that as well,it would take it down a chunk.0 -
I tried to post this this morning, but the computer was sulking.
