I always think of it as 'what do you do on Xmas Eve?' and buy the appropriate bits. As mine is for kids I'm coming more from the angle 'what do I want them to do?' but they were older when I started it so we had already got a lot of the magic keys, plates for reindeer food, santa stop her signs which you probably aren't including either.
I put toiletries in mine, one use ones if I can. If you are a fan of Lush, things like their bath bombs. They will start to have Christmas themed items in their stores soon.
What about a Christmas dec for your tree? You could start a tradition that way,and build your tree decs up.0 -
I think he'd rather you just went down the pub.0

Thank you I never thought of Xmas decs or smellies ill pop into lush once the Xmas range is out
&& he didn't like going to the pub it was his idea to come home and watch a Xmas film haha

When I was married my MIL who was Austrian always wanted to spend Christmas Eve with us so we had a tradition of a different type of meal.
Ours was a mix of M&S type nibbley foods that I usually couldn't justify buying plus Austrian delicacies but it could be anything you like that is your own treat. We always exchanged Christmas Eve gifts -seperate from the big Christmas presents -usually a smaller but very personal gift so that could be part of your hamper.
We did the big family thing with my family on Christmas day so we aimed at making Christmas Eve special in a more personal way.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Aw your first Xmas together is always the cutest! Last year I got us a little tree decor made from eBay which wasn't expensive so maybe look at that as something different but something you can keep?
Other than that I'd say pjs, bath bits, big snuggly blanket, films, sweeties and maybe a little tipple? You could play some old games you played as kids and share stories from been younger?
For something different as a treat you could make s'mores? Pretty simple and if you cant roast them over a fire you can just pop them into the microwave or grill... Really simple but yummy0 -
We both work in retail so wont be spending much time together in the run up to Xmas and Christmas day we are with my family and his Xmas eve so I wanted to make Xmas eve night just us
some amazing ideas I didn't think of a blanket or a tree decoration so ill have a look for them thank you and that's a great idea could you do the marshmallows over a candle or Tha type of thing? What a good idea0 -

I'd put a game in to play too and some christmassy shots as I like a little drink Christmas Eve since I get no time at all to drink on Christmas Day!!!Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Remember,if you can, take photos and then put it in a special album just for christmas eve,and then the arrival of babies etc etc through the years its amazing to look back on.Ours tells it own story from 2 of us to my bump and then bumps to them nestled in bed waiting for santa, hubby eating rudolphs carrot and santa's mince pie!0

How about a small bottle of Baileys, or advocaat with lemonade.
Some Stollen cake.(YUM)
A Christmas candle with the whole Christmas smell thing going on.
You could even buy a chocolate orange to tap it, unwrap it and share.0 -
I agree with Lush bath bombs they always have some that are not too girly so you can both have one. Hotel Chocolat hot chocolate - it's grated chocolate & they do a christmas one (just melt it in hot milk)proud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0
