Last year, I put in some scented pine cones for our log fire, pjs, big socks, beer, nuts, chocolate orange, a big fluffy blanket, nightcaps (like scrooge - was a bit of a joke), dvd and I'm sure there was something else but I really can't remember what it was unfortunately.0

new mugs for the hot choc
xmas tree dec
photo album for the yr ahead
popcorn/crisps/drink for while watching your moviethis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -
Like another poster I think of it as things to do / get yourself ready for Christmas Day. In our house it is adults and children.
A few things I didn't notice on the list were: new toothbrush, chocolate spoon/stirring stick for mixing the hot chocolate, CD (Christmas one).
Ours arrives after lunch and we have an activity for the children (you could decorate your own bauble for the tree), followed by a DVD, then another activity, then the children have a lush bath, followed by hot chocolate, then they read a Christmas book, by then it is into new PJ's and teeth brushing time. They are getting older so this may not all happen like this!0 -
How about onesies? Great to snuggle up in!
Or maybe some ingredients for baking ginger bread biscuits, mince pies, jam tarts, chocolate truffles or something like that? It would be fun to do something together, would fill your house with Christmassy smells, and you can eat your hard work whilst watching the movie.
I think it's really sweet you're putting this together. My fianc! and I sound the same in that we prefer to stay in doing festive things as a couple. This will be our third Christmas living together!0 -
Thankyou for all your suggestions the photo album is a brilliant idea so thank you for that and the baking idea is great too I'm gonna write all these down and see what I can find while out shopping do thank you all so much0

I do a xmas eve hamper for the kids only, but we all go and pick a decoration every year for the tree.0

Maybe rather than a onesie sod the heating bill, put it on full blast and so for the best undies?0

How about a Christmas tree decoration - perhaps a glass bauble with a current photo of the two of you so in years to come you'll have a keepsake to look back at? For our first Christmas we got a small Christmas tree, about 18", and we always switch its lights on together as it reminds us of our first Christmas and every Christmas since. The Christmas tree can also be used on the Christmas dinner table.
For a hamper how about toiletries, bath bombs, Christmas scented candles, snuggly blanket to watch movies together, dvds, sweets, non alcoholic drinks (Bottle Green Spiced Berry Cordial or something similar) and Mr & Mrs Claus outfits!
Perhaps after a nice soak in the bath together with Christmas scented bath bombs and Christmas scented lights being the only lighing in the bathroom, have something nice to eat - something which only needs placed in the oven so no prep, watch a Christmas movie together and then wear Mr & Mrs Claus outfits to bed?!?0 -
If you decide to get a candle Yankee Candle do one called 'Christmas Eve', very appropriate and smells gorgeous. This is the range
