I had a horrendous experience with Argos a couple of years ago and have not used them since. The things I ordered turned up but when I checked my credit card statements, I found that nearly £2000 in 3 different tranactions had all been taken out of my account all for Argos. The had then all been refunded at a latter date. When I rang them up the were so unhelpful and basically said youv'e been refunded whats the problem? When I asked why the money had gone out the said that it was nothing to do with them and that someone had fraudulanltly used my card to order things from them but they had realsied this and so refunded my card.(No-one bothered to tell me this). They said that it was someone who got my details from the internet. When I pointed out that, this only happened after I entered my card details on their website, and was only for their shop, and that they had credited it back, so could it possibly be one of their employees, I was told not a chance:rolleyes:. When I complained about not being informed becasue considering someone had my card details I needed to cancel it, they said they couldn't find my number so did'nt let me know? Obviously they had my email and address but couldn't give me a reason as to why didn't email or write. I was told they'd send me complimentary vouchers, like that would make it ok. They never even did that. Several of my letters were not responded to despite sending them recorded delivery. And after wasting a considerable amount of time writing to them and then having to cancel my card etc, I never even got an apology.

Similar happened to my friend last christmas time.. and argos were so unhelpful .. she got her bank onto it but in the end no one wanted to know as she got her money back but she had a lot of ringing and running around to do to get her money back..Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -

Never mind explicit, if you'd gone to their delivery info page on their site http://www.argos.co.uk/static/StaticDisplay/includeName/OrderingForHomeDelivery.htm there's nothing that suggests the 28 days are working days.
I think this thread sends out a clear message, don't touch Argos home delivery with a bargepole. I'll certainly continue to use their stores, but I don't think I'd ever be brave enough to try the home delivery service after the experiences of the folks on this board.

Ive had several items from Argos Direct, theyve all been delivered on time, in excellent condition, remember people only post when something goes wrong, the 99% of people who get their stuff correctly dont post!
Now Comet delivery-thats another Question!0 -

Now that is very true. People are very slow to take time out to give praise, even when you bend over backwards for them. You can make loads of deliveries without a problem, but it only takes one little problem to happen just once, and your name is mud.
I souldn't think Argos are any different than any other large company. Unfortunately they can't give the personal service that small companies can due to the huge numbers of customers they deal with. They have to have strict rules for their staff to follow, otherwise it would be complete chaos. However it must be really annoying when a company says they couldn't call you to tell you about a delay, when they clearly do have your phone number. I have found that most people are ok with delays as long as they are kept informed (good communication is the key).0 -
It's not one little problem Tim, people can accept that. It's
- not being told about delays
- no apologies offered fror problems
- a snotty attitude to customers.
I can think of many companies I buy from Play, Amazon, CD-WOW to name but a few, where things have gone wrong with orders and delays have occurred or wrong or broken items have arrived, but at least they tell you what's happening and when something goes wrong they bend over backwards to fix it. The examples above show Argos clearly don't.
A company isn;t judged on the 99.99% of sales that go well, they are judged on what happens when it all goes wrong.
To most companies a complaint is a gift, a chance to show how good you are, to Argos it's clear a complaint is a pain in the @rse.
Cheers

Like you said 'it's not one little problem', it's actually two main problems with Argos:
1) Poor communication
2) Not treating customers as they would like to be treated themselves.0 -
Hi,
I ordered many items for kiddies bday from argos direct, two items were missing from order, i rang complained that they had billed me for said items yet not delivered, they swore blind that it cant be their error, after alot of insinuations from them that *i maybe was not seeing the items* (they presumed i was ripping them off, they have finally agreed to send the said items to a local store for me to pick up, why was i made to feel like a thief?
when i asked for ceo details they hung up on me?
i asked for home delivery as its not easy for me to get to the store.
Im dumbstrucjk at their rudness to a simple *im missing a couple of items* request.
Feel better for getting that out.....#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
I had problems chasing a fridge freezer couple years ago too and my sister had trouble with CS over a bed.
looks like Its nothing more than drop-shipping, they take the order charge the customer then order it from their supplier (and sometimes find it out of stock)
I love argos in-store bargains, but I will never order any big stuff for home delivery again.0
