Yes, I do work for argos, but this is a personal account. I just thought it would be a good opportunity to clear up some confusion and to feed back that they are working towards improving the service.

with respect Mr Deegan, us argos employees do have a life outside the company, and you can believe me when i say the pay does not extend to cover "spouting a load of twaddle about how good we really are" on an internet forum.

we give freely of our time and our knowledge to try and help others get the best from shopping at argos, be that ways to get a bargain or the best ways to successfully resolve a serious c*ck up on our part. some of us do this at a risk to our own job security, having been expressly told by head office that we are not to post on sites like this.

whilst im not expecting gratitude, a bit of slack would be nice - please dont tar us all with the same brush. some of us argos bods work damn hard to make sure our customers leave happy, and no company is perfect

I don't doubt for a second that you (and possibly Turk), are concerned about customer service. However despite your work there are still countless threads on MSE slating Argos for their poor service.

Yes there are but there are always ppl that are prepared to complain about a service but not to congratulate, that is always the case no matter what company, be it Tesco, Asda, Next ect ect and also this is a place where ppl posts bargains or where ppl wanting help put things as a rule anyway. So if it is a post about a compaint then it is usually followed by " can someone help" or " advice wanted " or similar.

You do get the odd 'Victor Meldrew' type who will blow it all out of proportion. However they usually do have something to complain about in the first place. If a company sets up it's policies with customers satisfaction as it's main priority, then there should never be a reason to complain in the first place.

I sell over the internet, and on the odd very rare occasion we do get a complaint which we work to sort out immediately. I agree that people are more likely to complain than congratulate, but we do have far more customers who go to the effort of writing an e-mail to praise our service (not just leaving feedback on ebay). If large companies valued customers as much as we do, then there would never be any cause for people to complain.

Now I'm sure Pavlovs_dog and Turk would be much happier if Argos took the same view on customer satisfaction.

Well I have not used them before but ordered suite on 26/9/07 and not heard so phoned them yesterday - bearing in mind they have both my e-mail address and day time telephone number to be told they had been trying to contact me for delivery - Oh YEAH!! They had seemingly the wrong phone number - c##p as I checked my details on their site on my log in and they had it correct. Now they cannot deliver till friday which is over the 28 days - but I will be happy for them to come -- if they turn up that is and they have had my money since 27/9/07!
Not too chuffed so far in this experience!.
Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j

if you ordered online then it might not have been made explicit that the 28 days you were quoted is in working days, not calandar days. argos would view the 28 days ending around 5th november, so if they seem unsympathetic towards your wait for the item, it is because by their standards they are within the lead time they quoted you.

hope that clears things up a bit, and fingers crossed for a smooth delivery for you on friday

My suite duly arrived - and what a load of rubbish it is - being collected tomorrow - plastic feet and a split in the chair and to keep all the packaging and repackage was awful. I am glad its going back - never again!

My only complaint about Argos is that they do charge the credit card on order, not when delivered, when i complained i was told i could cancel the order if i wished. I think this is wrong.
Apart from that i have had no problems-even something outside of warranty was replaced under the SOG act.
Tim deegan- can u supply me a memory foam topped 2 Drawer Divan for just over £300?.(King Size)
I doubt that a big company like Argos will go bust-can u be shore of someone off the internet?, im talking about after sales service, before someone quotes tha your covered by the Credit Card for losses.
WebElectricals were a big internet site-where are they now?

Is that their normal price, or clearance price?
