I'm having problems at the moment. My built in electric oven blew up about 6 weeks ago (mid August). I ordered a new one from Argos straight away, went into the store and paid cash for it. I was told delivery would be up to 3 weeks. Well after about 18 days I received a letter telling me that due to exceptional circumstances the oven wouldn't be coming into stock until the 4th of October. Anyway it got to the 6th of October, I rang customer services who told me that the oven was still out of stock and wouldn't be coming in until the 20th of October. I'm not holding my breath! It's been very difficult feeding a family of 6 with no oven to cook in!0

I have had problems with argos too and will never use them again. Like eveyone else has said poor service and terrible customer service.
I had problems with a wardrobe they were supposed to deliver. They claimed they tried to knock on my door and got no answer. This happened 4 times, each time me staying in and them not arriving, each time I called I got told the same thing they came you weren't there. BUT I WAS!
.. after a tearful and long conversation it turned out they had been trying to deliver it to the wrong address.
To make it worse. When I fianaly got my wordrobe it was BLUE. I wanted pink for my DD, and they'd charged me for all 5 wardrobes ( four unsuccseful attempts of delivery and the useless blue one I had).
I did get all my money refunded and returned the blue wardrobe on the back of my bro in laws lorry! and got an apology with £20 vouchers which I told em to stick it as I would NEVER shop with them again.0 -
UPDATE:
I have written to Head Office regarding the problems i have with Argos and non-delivery of items ordered. I will let you know what the outcome is.
Don't forget that Argos had my money in there Bank Account for 7-10 days before I had it returned. I wonder how much money they accumulate each year through doing that.
Could anyone please let me know if this is the right address for Head Office.

Many thanks for all your comments.

If you want to check that address post on this thread

I'm not sure if I'm sending for you to my post, but the thread is on the freebie board and is called complaint letter success. I went on to find an address to complain about reebok and someone got back to me. They seem to know about how to get results when complaining!
Good luck.

Strikes me that I, my daughter and mother have been very fortunate. We have ordered stuff from Argos and have always had it delivered on time by polite delivery drivers. They have also collected stuff for return and have credited the necessary card no problem.0

Overall my Argos shopping experiences have been good. The worst that happened was a couple of items last Christmas didn't arrive on the stated delivery date. They turned up a few days later, no great inconvenience0

Well £20 is £20 even if it was from a bad experience i would have kept it i know that.
I do have to agree tho with Argos Direct they can be blummin awful and a quite a few ppl have had VERY BAD experieces, but not to keep £20 is a little silly you could have spent it in the shop as they dont do the deliveries and i dont think you would have experienced the same service in the shop or you could have given it to someone as a present  .0 -

Hey.. I'm hindsight you're probably right but at the time as you can inagime I was very angry, and didn't want anything from them. I have to be honest and say I still have never shopped in their stores since, that was 2 yrs ago now!0 -
Just picking up on a few issues that have been raised. This is what I know...
1. Compensation - if you've got sufficient reason to 'claim' thn Argos Direct will wait until the order has been delivered and you (the customer) are happy with the product.
2. Customer Service - There is a huge focus on customer experience at the moment and it's one of the key improvement areas which are being focussed on. If you've had bad experience in the past with this then don't let it put you off. This isnt an overnight thing and with christmas 'peak' coming up there will be some extra staff which may not be as experienced as others.
3. Stock Delays (this is Home Delivery only based)- If Argos don't believe they will get your products to you within the agreed promise date then they will try to notify you of any issues. Argos can only work with what information is provided by the suppliers, these delays are often relayed onto the customer. A number of these suppliers are overseas so you can imagine there are shipping and occasionally production delays.
4. Selling items that are Out of Stock (OOS) - Argos do not knowingly sell products which are OOS. Infact, the system doesnt allow for it, so there must have been some stock integrity issues which resulted in these problems.
Hope this helps!0 -
Thanks Turk, I appreciate you taking the time to post. It would have been nice to receive a communication from Argos to let me know my stuff was delayed, but as it wasn't urgent I didn't fret at the time.
I am sorry that people on here have had bad experiences, but I shop at Argos a lot and use their home delivery too, and apart from that one small delay I've always been very happy with the service.
Anyway I'm off out - to Argos0 -

with respect Mr Deegan, us argos employees do have a life outside the company, and you can believe me when i say the pay does not extend to cover "spouting a load of twaddle about how good we really are" on an internet forum.
we give freely of our time and our knowledge to try and help others get the best from shopping at argos, be that ways to get a bargain or the best ways to successfully resolve a serious c*ck up on our part. some of us do this at a risk to our own job security, having been expressly told by head office that we are not to post on sites like this.
whilst im not expecting gratitude, a bit of slack would be nice - please dont tar us all with the same brush. some of us argos bods work damn hard to make sure our customers leave happy, and no company is perfectknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0
