Hello cheapasfish

I'll move your thread to 'The (Consumer) Vent' board.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move discussions from the MoneySaving boards if they’re not related to MoneySaving to help everyone find the MoneySaving tips and discussion quicker (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to Discussion Time/The Arms. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

you'll get people on here saying its ethically wrong and pointless but id do the same,
i would buy the camera at the new price and return the new one with the old receipt under the 14 day returns, i think they have a 10% restocking fee so depends on the maths whether it is worth it or not

I would do this too and have done at other stores, especially around July and January sales. I am shocked about the restocking fee though, I thought if they have a 14 day returns policy it's no quibble and full refund like at many shops now?

    Get a grip.

You thought it was a good price, you paid. Now you're whining. If it had gone up would you expect Curry's knocking for the extra £30?

as Nobblyned said, if the boot was on the other foot you wouldn't queue up to pay Currys £30. Such is life - you take your chance when you buy it I'm afraid.

As someone else said, buy it cheaper then return it, Never tried it myself but it is a nice sneaky idea that I might try

No i did not think it was a good price, I could have bought it cheaper on the net. From the same company group in fact..

I thought i was doing my bit to keep shops open.. The other electrical stores on the same retail park have now gone...

Having looked on their website it seems £159.00 is for the camera package with a case and memory card which i did not get..

So it looks like i was charged the incorrect amount.

    Thanks for the tips..

I am on your side cheapasfish, I wouldn't ignore it. See if they have a returns policy, if so use that (as I and some others have said before) and then rebuy the camera thru them or on t'internet.

If they haven't, then why not go in with a copy of the internet page printout and query the missing item and the price? Nothing to lose except a bit of your time, but if you are successful you will have saved a worthwhile amount of money.

    Good luck!
