Do I have to upgrade ipad to ios 8?

Mine doesn't exhibit any of this strange behaviour. Did the iOS8 update, and to be perfectly honest from my wireless only iPad point of view and the way I use it, it has changed very little, apart from me regularly opening new Safari tabs instead of bookmarks :rotfl:.

When I press the + button I simply get a new tab.

The phone is a little different, and I do like one iOS8 update in particular, which comes with the health monitor in the form of an emergency contact available from the lock screen in case anything happens to you and someone tries to use your phone to get help.

Sorry if I didn't explain it right but this is the same as mine. Under the new tab I get favourites suggested including the 4 sites the OP mentioned. So bookmarks now needs the left thumb instead of the right.

the espn.yahoo comes up every time I use safari icon.
can this be stopped, it's a pain.
I guessedthey altered safari, none of those numerable tabs along the top;good;but, I still cannot see where it says it's using safari, mine goes to google when I use safari icon, and yahoo homepage comes up..wierd.
it also turned icloud on as default, don't use it.
seems everyones finding different things

My ipad runs iOS6 & I was forcibly upgraded to iOS7 on my phone when the screen cracked.

iOS upgrades are elective & the virus risk is one only you can decide on. I loathe 7 on the phone but appreciate the banking apps. I wouldn't bank by pad as it's far too much in family usage...

Just wish the blinking pad would run MSE smoothly! Ah well.

why have you got banking apps, if you don't bank??
I'm opposite.
only use it for banking, and buying.
never use apps, for banking, don't trust them.
only OH uses it, candy crush.:D

A few months ago I purchased and started using the Apple Numbers spreadsheet app. It integrated nicely with iCloud so one could update spreadsheets on iPhone or iPad and via web browser.
All lovely until... Numbers in iCloud now blocked unless I upgrade one of my devices to IOS 8 - because Apple has forced a move to iCloud Drive for Numbers.

My iPhone will never have IOS 8 as it's a 4 and the iPad might except for the legion serious bug reports on IOS 8 and the fact that so many users of iPads/iPhones 4s are reporting that IOS 8 is SLOW.

Wonder if I can get a refund on the Numbers app now?

I need a cloud type replacement for Numbers that works on Web and IOS. Any suggestions?

Upgraded to IOS 8 & got problems still.
Both my IPads are giving me nagging screens although the IPad2 has calmed down a little. The IPad4 is a real pain wanting me to log into ICloud using a tiscali email address although my Apple ID is a gmail ID. Problem is there is no option for me to reset my tiscali password, only my gmail address.
The ICloud function is switched off on both devices. The devices have been set up as one device.
To add insult to injury the email received today from Apple support after a week was somehow accidentally deleted.
If you use ITunes to update you do not need to clear much in the way of space. Even so I did not expect it to clean out several megabytes of photos that I had in a specific app.
All in all updating has been a pain, not a disaster because you get used to computer 'things' after many years. Blue screens come & go, you just get used to it all. It pays to have several devices so that your operating systems include Windoze, Linux, IOS & Android. That way you can normally resolve a problem especially if you use dual boot-up PC's.
iPads are expensive which is why my IPad4 was bought for half price with a cracked screen. The crack does not interfere with it's operation.
Why Apple has decided to put the bookmark option on the other side of the screen baffles me. It took two years before I could use the option properly. There is a smiley face on the keyboard which looks rather childish now as well. No doubt time allowing all will be sorted.:T

I have an iPad Air and, tho I heard complaints about its on iPhones I still upgraded tomios 8 when it asked me to. A few things are bugging me:

1. I cannot close a single tab as the x won't appear unless I open another tab and then close the site i had open (Safari).
2. Before upgrading, and many months after having the iPad i began getting a message to enter the Facebook password in settings, this would appear on start up or from standby, tho it would not take my FB or Apple passwords, so I would press cancel, but on update yesterday it also kept asking for my icloud ID, even tho I skipped setting it up, on my email address used when I set up ipad 8 Months ago showsmin iCloud in settings. Does anyone have any solutions to these please? I really don't want to restore.

Can anyone please tell me how I can stop the message 'enter the Facebook password for "" in settings" I have had this message on my ad air for months and tried lots of thing, like deleting the FB App and reinstalling it, resetting privacy settings and all settings (tho not done a full restore and reluctant to do so) but the message soon comes back. It doesn't stop me using FB or anything on iPad, but it's annoying. So if anyone can please help, or has had the same issue, I'd be most great full. Thanks.
