This is what it looks like
The one in the middle is the one we use to mix hot and cold water
I managed to open it but there was something made of copper inside
is that what I need to change?
Where will i be able to buy this as well.
I am not able to see them on wickes or anything0 -
Sounds like the shower is duff, BUT most competent persons put valves in both lines to the shower to control the flow to the mixer, have a fiddle to ensure enough hot water is availableI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

What you need to change is the thermostatic cartridge. Looks like a branded valve, so you may need to contact victoria plumb for a replacement.
Or take the original to a decent plumber's merchants and ask for one to match, as similar ones are used across a wide range of valves. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hi Thank you so much all for your replies
I did not buy it from Victoria Plumb but I just wanted to show you how it looks like
Unfortunately I asked my builder to buy it and put it and it has never really worked, I showed it to him while we were staying and he said since the boiler has been off for months it might take some time so I do not know where to buy this exactly. I Will open it and try and take some pics of it and post it online.0 -
Your builder is certainly lying and probably incompetent. It's got nothing to do with the boiler having been off for months. If it's never worked properly then it may be down to a faulty install.
You said before it has never worked since you moved in, now you say it has never worked since installed-which is it?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Sorry I meant that we got this installed as soon as we moved in so it was both at the same time. My builder was definitely crap and I had to kick him out so I would not doubt once that it is a faulty install.0

I called the manufacturer and they pointed me towards a video of calibrating the shower basically turn anticlockwise which I did and now the handle that lets you select how cold or hot water you want is not moving more than 30 degrees but the problem remains the same.
I was looking at this over the weekend and found out that there are two pipes behind the wall one supplying hot water and one cold with a stop cork, what if i turn the cold water right down, will that solve the problem as the manufacturer said that by default the water is set to 37 degrees and you could be finding that too cold but I am sure what is coming out is hardly 17 to 20, its just lukewarm.
They asked me not to open the shower completely just yet.
Any recommendations please.0 -
I spent a hell of a lot of time replacing cartridges and disc valves in my thermostatic shower mixer, finally turned out it was the shower booster pump that was the problemYou scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

Another possible issue is the filters, mixer showers often have a little filter just before the thermostatic mixer (one on both the hot and cold pipes), which can get partially/fully blocked and reduce the water flow massively, which can result in you getting a cold/hot/barely warm shower depending on the blockage.
We had it happen to us a couple of times, usually after the water had been turned off or not used for a while (and the crud had settled then moved when the water was turned back on).
With Mira type mixer showers at least it's about a 5 minute job to get to the filters (after turning the water off to the shower), and cleaning them.0 -
Hi
I have just spoken to the manufacturer and he kept asking me what was the flow or pressure and I did not know the answer to it
He is saying that its the boiler which has the problem but i told him its not as everywhere else its fine and I get hot water, its just the shower that has problem, I told him what I had already done and he has sent an email and ask me to find the fault, Plumber would cost about 100 quid an hour in london and really could do without his services as I can really not afford it, anyway anyone can tell how to find out what is the pressure.
As a layman I think its not bad at all as I get a lot of water out of the shower but unfortunately its all cold0
