Hi
I am having this problem since we moved into the house, the hot water in the shower dos not seem to work, it was atleast working for a minute or so earlier but now it hardly works for 20 seconds and then turn cold, wait for another 2 or 3 minutes and it will start giving out lukewarm water for another 20 seconds and back to freezing cold water. Is there anything I can do to fix this please.
The washbasin tap a meter away has such hot water that we can not even touch it when it is as its full. Since it is getting colder its getting more and more problematic but if I have to even call someone from outside I dont know if it is the boiler, shower or pipework.
If i can do anything DIY i would give that a try first failing which I have no option but to call a professional.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Is the shower electric or does it come directly from a combination boiler. Or do you have an immersion tank with a shower pump?Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

It normally means they need replacing. If you're competemt, then its ok. Otherwise, you may need a plumber.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Wouldn't the mixing valve on the boiler supply all the hot water to the house?
I know very little about hot water - but my shower did exactly that. Cold shower, but hot basin tap. I was totally confused about it, as was my plumber. I happened to de-limescale the shower head and after that the shower was hot again.0 -

It would be the mixer valve in the shower that it the problem, not the boiler.0 -
