Going round in circle with BT and Tiscali - arrghhh

Tiscali, as many of you know we have recently just moved into our new house. We wanted to install broadband ASAP. I tried but the telephone line still has a service connected to it. After being on hold for 57 minutes BT tell me it is Tiscali and i need to ring and cancel it with them.

So I try but no they can't because it is registered under the previous owner and they can't do anything unless I send them confirmation from BT that the line rental is now in my name not previous owners.

So I ring BT back and 49 minutes later I give up. I spoke to 4 different people and no one could help me.

    Ring 0800 169 0934 explain to them, they will check and then get the tag removed for you.

    The ONLY reason BT retail should do anything is if the tag was a BT tag. Under any other circumstances the gaining provider (Tiscali) should phone BT Wholesale and request removal of the tag.

    Well from what it sounds like, they're saying you havent taken over the telephone service at that property yet?
