I'm sat here wondering why my right eyebrow suddenly feels very hairy - I can feel it when I blink ... most unusual:rotfl: But the left one is fine.
Might have to get the garden shears to it.'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

Did anyone get the M&S belly pork on the meal deal. Well lifted it out of the freezer earlier and made a cauliflower cheese with whoopsied cauliflower, whoopsied beans, green house tomatoes, onion rings and .....wait for it.......black pudding.:)
The meal had a sachet with a gravy/ sauce and it was delicious.
I've also made cakes, biscuits and puddings and a pumpkin soup. I also did a load of spicy croutons to go with it.All meals are now sorted for next week and I've had a brilliant day:T
Oh TM think that you are putting some of us to shame. I made two different dishes for the freezer Changed the recipe for Moroccan lamb and it was not quite as nice but ok0 -

VT I can't find the right emotional words just hugs for you all. :grouphug:
On a practical note you need to get a pill organiser, local chemists do the best sized ones if your dad has a lot of drugs to take.
You can get them split in to sections for morning/lunch/afternoon/evening and up to seven days worth. I used to sit and do this for my mum. If she fell asleep when she was due to take some it was easy for her to see what she had missed and without the need of intervention from carers.
You can get local chemists to blister pack the FOC but I found with a palliative care patient meds can change from one week to the next so not as ideal as it seems at first.
I used to leave a large glass of water in every room and I got mum a tefal one cup for making tea maybe this could be put near your dad just one press of a button and it's easy to check how much is being drunk from how much is gone from the tank. I used to only need to fill it once a day.
Ulitmately the struggles your dad is having is one of the reasons I moved in with my mum at the end. Yes the carers came to help lift her etc but if she was asleep I was go between and they didn't get through me.
As you say your dad is entitled to I think it's called continual health care funding which can be used to fund care home or carers/respite at home in the form of sits for 6 weeks and then he would be reasessed.
I know your dad doesn't want either of you to move in. To give my mum a false sense of coping I used to fly around her house in the evening with all these glasses of water, filling her one cup, leaving cereal out for her so that the mornings were hers to take at her pace. I would leave it as long as I could before phoning in the morning to make sure she had taken first meds of the day otherwise it had a knock on effect with her pain etc.
Not sure if any of the above helps you in anyway hun. Stay strong your dad, you and your sister are in my prayers. :A
All amazingly helpful advice. Thank you.
Unfortunately dad refuses to use a pill organizer so our solution is 2 old foil dishes and they are laid out ready with his breakfast in the morning, sister always takes her lunch break at dads so gives him pills with lunch then after tea he has his water bottle and bedtime pills by bed. This is a new strategy from yesterday. We had great trouble understanding the list sent home from hospital so phone up care team.
Although he was offered one of us stay the night last night he declined but obviously thought about it as is allowing my sister to stay tonight. Big breakthrough.
Today he is in 2 minds about staying at home or a care home.
He hates the disturbances of care team and refuses to leave a key in the key box. This will have to change.
The one cup is a great idea as long it is really boiling as dad likes his tea very hot. He had managed to make a cup yesterday in kitchen but said it was too much for him.
When carers come in at 9am they can give breakfast and pills if he has not managed to get into the kitchen.
The great worry is they refuse to give him any more transfusions due to leaking lungs. Not told dad this yet.
My sister is taking tomorrow off work and asking the pallative care nurse to come and talk through options with dad. She is also going to try to get the finance ball rolling.
To be honest everything has been so quick and prognosis so bad we have not bothered to apply for attendance allowance.
It is always the way that you feel at crisis point at the weekend when nothing can be done.
Today is 50 years since my Brother died so might be why dad has finally allowed someone to stay the night with him.

Got around £9.50 of wombled APGs this weekend from stores I was going to anyway (for LG pasta shops - so even more APGs) ... no guesses whether I'll be continuing wombling or not:rotfl:
There's one particular Sada I went to today, quite close by but only small so don't normally call in, but it's in a - say we say - 'vibrant' area, so the shoppers just chuck their receipts anywhere but in a litter bin ... I picked up 5 today from just in the doorway alone.
So, now got £32.40 of APGs to use in the next month. But I've been thinking about using the wombled APGs to get foodbank donations.
Thats a nice thought Jelly I don't get many wombles here but usually get something for the foodbank if am doing a glichey shop, just pasta or sometimes the glchey thing as its so cheap anyway GD 's (4 of them)love coming to get their £1.00 worth. It can be quite a bit :T
Going to make more chutney for xmas and put in baby food jars for a couple of older people on their own.0 -
