No guarantee it will be ok. When I flew in August, there were a few people randomly being pulled to one side and having extra checks, and that was on all routes, not just America."More people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them." - Harold J. Smith:cool:0

I dont think you will be able to post it from the airport, the postboxes there have a very thin slot for security reasons.
However, the chances of it arousing any suspicion when your hand luggage goes through the scanner are tiny. On European flights I have not noticed electronics getting any extra attention apart from laptops and tablets going through separately.

I have just flown from Gatwick to Italy and back. I had a working smartphone and a Kindle Paperwhite with me. I had to take them out of my bag but wasn't asked to switch them on.0

I've had several flights in recent weeks and while they make you put electronics separate from bags through the scanner I've never been asked to turn anything on - and I usually travel with a lot of gadgets.0

If the traveller is still unable to power on their machine, it will be suggested they make use of MailandFly - an existing service offered by the firm Bagport, which is based at Heathrow's security control.
US has said that mobile phones will be among the checked items
It allows passengers to pay for banned hand baggage to either be shipped to them separately or be stored at one of the firm's warehouses for up to 42 days.0 -
I just flew to the US and back and not once did I get asked to power anything up. We had to take all the electronic stuff out of our hand luggage for the scanner but they just went through.
My hand luggage suitcase, on the other hand. Last minute packing meant leaving things in the suitcase and piling more things on top. One of the things already in was a pair of scissors0 -

Flew into the US from Qatar and Mexico recently. Didn't get asked to power anything up.
Also, had a GPS in my hand luggage. Not a problem.
I think the issue is the sensationalism in the UK, we are just so dramatic about everything.0
