How well are people doing with Twitter competitions?

According to twitter I have tweeted 3146 times and I've won once.

I don't use twitter for personal reasons, so glancing at my profile makes it look like a comping account. I think I need to work on making it a more personal page.

Also people that seem to win frequently are often those that interact a lot with the companies and have a lot of followers themselves (this is where being a blogger really helps).

I won a hamper on twitter last week, it just so happened that I was eating one of their GoAhead bars on my break at work so sent them a tweet at the time, so I'm sure that a bit of interaction helps.

Thought I'd try a little experiment and switch back to an old unused twitter account I have (my usual one has 400ish followers and about 15k tweets, haven't won anything using it since Feb).

The old account I haven't used for about a year, only has 199 followers and about 2k tweets. Started using it again on th 6th October (and stopped using the other account mostly, I never enter the same comp from both accounts though), yesterday I won a load of toilet paper.

Not sure if it's just luck but....

I've only ever won once (which was months ago, and I took a break from comping altogether for a while after that), but I had entered a couple thousand comps by then.

I just think the numbers are stacked against you with Twitter as it is sooooo quick and easy to enter, you get sooo many more people entering than with usual comps. You can enter in 2 secs on your mobile phone, on your way to work, you know?

Do you have to read all your incoming tweets to find out if you've won? I don't think I've ever done that!

There seem to be a few fake companies linked to sports/ sports news giving away iphone 6's and when you look into it there turnover is about zero to 4 grand a year and they are run from back bedrooms by geeks, I can only wonder why they bother?

I questioned one yesterday and they deleted all their comp tweets going back weeks. Just be careful out there, if it looks too good to be true it probably is.

It is easier now to set up a great website, but it is a facade to get followers?

You won't need to read all your incoming tweets to see if you have won. You will get a notification that someone mentioned your handle/username "@joebloggs" or sometimes a direct message telling you of a win but usually you will get tweeted directly so get a notification. Does that make sense?

I've won a couple more on Twitter. Some ready to roll cake icing and a Pom-Pom maker. Added to the Avon bundle, pet treats, pot of Steamcream face cream and jar of Loyd Grossman sauce I've done ok through Twitter, since starting last month. Nothing big but the Steamcream is lovely. Yet to receive the Avon goodies so looking forward to that. I've still not won anything from any other source and I've entered loads since I started comping last month.
