Still charged for itemised billing without a paper bill!

About 6 months ago I switched to paperless billing with the carphone warehouse as I am always online anyway and so didnt see the need for the extra paper coming through the letterbox every month.

I recently changed my address and this month recieved a fully itemised paper phone bill. I rang up carphone warehouse to tell them that they had sent me a fully itemised paper bill in error and to ask for my £1.28 +VAT back and the person on the other end of the phone told me that although she can stop the paper from arriving at my door I will be still be paying for the fully itemised bill even when I view it online!

As a website designer myself I couldn't believe my ears. I thought I was paying for the extra printing and postage, but no. Nobody at the other end spends so much as a second creating my online fully itemised bill as it is a simple computer program calling from a Database.

How can they justify £1.50 for this?

doesn't sound right mate, i'd phone up again and double check on that. Vodafone charged me for itemised even though i only just signed up online and they refunded me the amount when i phoned up to mention that i never get my statements anyway (which is true).

If it's any help at all, this is on their website:

    What is online billing?
Online Billing is an easy and convenient way to manage your phone account. Once registered your monthly phone bills will be emailed to you. The email will contain a copy of your bill which you can view and print, or you can view online in more detail. Cut down on paper clutter - all your account details and bills will be stored neatly just a mouse click away. Benefits of online billing; Fully itemised details for FREE Greater control over your account Improved call analysis options The option to export your bills to Microsoft Excel to analyse or print them.

(BTW the caps are theirs, not mine!!)

    Page is here
"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."
  • Am on the phone with CPW Vodafone at the moment, who are denying that free means free.

Their position is that itemised billing is fully chargable, whether online or by paper.

Escalated the call to a manager.

CPW Vodafone have now agreed that the website says it is free, and as such, will be raising a credit for all the itemised billing I've been charged while on online billing.

However, now that they're aware of this, they will be getting the website CHANGED.

Better be quick, if it affects you.
