Just received a PCN from Parking Eye for not registering my vehicle when shopping at Boscombe Aldi. Replied that their notice was a scam, had no legal basis complained to Aldi. Was I too nice?

Just get to the newbiesThread here, read and absorb:

Aldi don't have a good record on this. They cave in to parking lie generally, so just follow the usual steps as set out in these Threads, but DO COMPLAIN STRONGLY, PUBLICLY TO ALDI IN WRITING. Many choose to visit book of face for this....:-)
Include a copy of your shopping receipt/redacted online Bank statement, if you have one.
So, read first, then show us your draft letters. The 1st one to parking lie is a fishing expedition for a popla code, so doesn't need huge time/effort.

You probably need to follow the advice on the newbie thread.
Aldi are naughty, block fire exits yet spend time perusing people like yourselves.

@OP - sending receipts to PE (especially if >£30) will normally see the PCN cancelled.
As you've already communicated with them (albeit, shall we say, 'indelicately'), it may be less than as straightforward a transaction as some others have experienced. Suggest you mark you correspondence 'cc Ms Rachel Organ, Aldi HQ Swindon' (she is the Aldi/PE interface) - and email her a copy, which should add a bit of extra weight to your appeal.

Probably I should take up Aldi's offer to contact them - they seemed almost conciliatory.
My letter to Parking Eye:
I am responding to your Parking Charge Notice received this morning. I have taken advice and your notice has no legal basis – much like yourselves to issue a fine. I will be ignoring all future communication from you and this is my one and only reply.
My email to Aldi:
Stop Parking Eye chasing your customers away! Ultimately the land is yours so do something about your car parks. Parking Eye has no legal basis for a charge notice when I visited your shop. Aldi, get your act topgether.
Aldi's reply:
Thank you for your e-mail regarding parking at your local Aldi store and we were sorry to hear of the problems experienced.
We instruct Parking Eye to manage a number of our car parks throughout the UK. It is important to us that we protect our company resources, such as car parks, so that they are safeguarded for use by our customers. Our stores are extremely busy, and it is disappointing for customers when they are unable to find a parking space.
If you would like to speak to someone regarding this please contact us on 0800 042 0800 with your paperwork to hand, we will then arrange for one of the parking management team to call you.

My reply to Aldi:
Hi Jak
The problem wasn't finding a parking space - I had one. It was Parkiing Eye's asking for money for not registering my car in the shop. Furthermore, Aldi's lack of integrity in permitting them to do this on your behalf. No need to ring as there is no basis to PE's claim and I'm returning their notice. You just lost another customer!0 -
Parking Eye don't "manage" car parks. By only using ANPR they can't "manage" people walking off site, they can't "manage" the correct use of designated bays and they can't "manage" drivers who park sideways over three bays. All they can manage is the amount of money flowing into their bank account. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

What do you mean by returning their notice? do you mean the one from parking eye and your returning it as you are not going to pay??From the Plain Language Commission:

I had a PCN from a local Aldi, for overstaying the 1.5 hr limit by mistake. I was in the store the whole time - just a very slow shopper! I called Aldi on 0800 0420800 & explained. A few days later the Parking Management team called me back & asked for some details from my receipt, which I gave them. After being suitably apologetic, the PCN was cancelled - I received confirmation a few days later through the post. Easy peasy. If you are a genuine customer you have nothing to worry about...0

Hi Half Way
I returned the PCN to Parking Eye after copying it. I think I'll write to Aldi with (a copy of) the receipt.0
