Collar that doesn't wear the fur away?

I need a new collar for Gitdog to replace his halfcheck. I'm looking for an ordinary one, it won't be used to attach a lead to, just for his name tag and to hoik him off the settee when he's ignoring me.
The last collar I had (same type of material as a lead, not sure what it's called) needed to be tightish so it didn't go over his head but started to rub the fur and break it off. What's the best soft material for a collar so this doesn't happen - leather or something else?

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Rolled leather, if it's just to hold ID. Alternatively, maybe a fabric martingale as it'll sit loose on the neck but tighten to stay on when needed - you can get silk lined ones that may rub less0

Is a martingale like a half check? If so it's no good as I can't use it at training classes or the good citizen - against the APDT and kennel club rules apparently. His heads a bit big to get a proper fit for his neck, if that makes sense. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Can you not just use a fixed collar for your trainng class and a martingale otherwise.0

I'd second the rolled leather collar. I used to use the regular fabric collars and had the same issue of hair breakage. I switched to the rolled leather and no issues since.0

I only use leather collars on my dog. Doesn't wear the hair and on the off-chance she should get stuck somewhere it'll break, whereas nylon or any other man made fabric won't.0

What about fleece dog collar?0

Zara has got a half choke collar. Loose and looking nice when she is not trying to drag me across a field to try to kill a dog - pools on tight (not too tight of course) if she strains the lead.
Something like that (link clickable to amazon):
Hate the name of the collar but like the functionality of it.
Hers is quite solid, wide I mean with a really nice chain hanging on her chest when she is a good girlAnd black. Got 2 rings on i so name tag with my details plus another one with dog walker's details is always on.
Collar is not leather, some kind of fabrics that does not stretch.
But she does not wear it at home, only when we go out.0 -
Ah, sorry - just noticed this one is not allowed....
I can see why though BUT I do NOT use it to chock my dogand neither do you so.... hmmmm0 -
Rolled leather here as well, I've got a sheltie and it's the only collar that doesn't turn his ruff black or break the fur off, they also last for ages.0

Martingale is basically a fabric half-check, but both of them should be fitted so that the tightest setting is only as tight as it needs to be to stop it sliding over the head.
APDT say they're fine with their usage if fitted and used correctly in this way - http://www.apdt.co.uk/about/half-check-collars
Would imagine if you're not even attaching a lead to it, it would certainly be classed as non-corrective! I wouldn't be too impressed in a club that put a blanket rule on and ignored the individual factors at play.0
