So a man in his 50s living with his mother is automatically suspect, you are prepared to believe it on no evidence whatsoever and the street is having collective hysteria when their children are more likely to be abused in the home by someone they know than a random stranger. I'd be careful what I say if I were you. Whether or not he's what you suspect it sounds to me like a situation where some bonehead is about to take into his or her head that vigilante action is called for and escalate things; and that could get really serious.

Er...hello...??? Read my first post. Did I not say we cannot judge unless we know for sure?

How much contact do your visiting grandchildren have with neighbours ?

I can't think of anyone I know whose grandchildren have unsupervised contact with neighbours of their grandparents...especially if the grandparents don't even know their name.

Sounds like a lot of neighbourhood gossip.
If you really want to know why don't you just ask your neighbour ?

  • If the man keeps himself to himself, as you say, why do you need to know? You surely wouldn't let your grandchildren have unsupervised contact with any person who you didn't know, so what difference does it make?

The graffiti incident is disgusting and may not even be true. Some people think every single middle-aged man is a p/hile.

I don't get it. Were you planning on sending your kids round to this house, where an elderly woman lives who's name you don't know?

Obviously if true it's disgusting. But you are responsible for your kids safety. Take reasonable steps to protect them.

Indeed, and how is the situation different from a month ago? You didn't know then either.
