Really cross with BT!! Broad band Rant

I called last Friday to enquire about getting a MAC address as I was looking to possibly move to someone else. My work who pays my bill when sent in wanted m on the same as them as its a speed.

I was told when I called, BT could match the speed 8 whatever it is, sorry not a techie and also reduce my bill by £4 a month. I was then put through to someone else who said I would have to be sent a BT hub to use and an engineer would be sent.

I said no I have to use my works equipment and I don't want an engineer out messing with anything else my employer would go mad if it went wrong. So please don't do anything I want to stay as i am.

Any how today I have had a letter saying thank you for signing up for 12 months to BT total and also a hub arrived.:mad:

I have spent the best part of the day on the phone trying to tell them I don't want anything changed I want to stay on what I have already. They can't tell me what I was on as my switch is pending and to them it looks like I was on an old tariff that no longer exists! I pay £15.99 a month and I am surfing about most of the day. So the £4 off would not be £4 off as I only pay £15.99 and it would go down to £13.99.:mad:

I have been told I have to wait for them to call me and they cannot stop the switch over. I really don't want my billing to change. As I could end up paying more than I was before.

I am so cross, I did not ask for this to be done,. They are basically saying i must have.

Am I going to lose out here?:confused:

    It can be switched if it hasnt already gone through. Ring 0800800030.

    If it has gone through ring up and ask for it to be listened to (the origional call). Though I thought you wanted a higher speed, and the deal is youre going to a higher speed at a lower price. I dont get the problem as you dont have to use teh hub.

    Drunkstar - I called Thursday, they said they would call me when they have listened to the call made. Still waiting.

    The chap could not stop it going through he said as he could not see what tariff I was on prior to the change as it was an old one.

    I am am now changed and the speed difference is certainly not making any noticeable difference anyway as my connection before was lightening quick.

    My tariff before was an old one BT yahoo broad band or something like that. I was only paying £15.99 a month and I surf and make VOIP calls all day and never go over the allowance I had.

    I am concerned now for my only £2 discount not the £4 I am going to get a letter saying that I now need to be on a more expensive tariff as I am using it too much.:cool:
