Gut feeling is hard one to follow up on...Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.
Virtuous action, now, at this very moment.

Willing acceptance - now, at this very moment - of what you can’t change0 -

No reason you should have given the title of the thread.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

I'd seen the first but not the second.
On that basis, self-promotion will be getting through then.0 -

I suppose the argument is if you haven't got anything other than a feeling it's self promotion how can they tell if it really is self promotion? It might be you have another reason for wanting that comp removed from the board.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

I'm happy to report it but I'm not prepared to spend hours preparing the case for the prosecution, and since that seems to be required now when common sense should suffice I don't bother any more.0

I would have thought a link showing a similarity in names between the poster and the someone at the company would suffice. I usually have that before I would report it as elf promotion anyway.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

I think I can see their point. If they take negative action, including removing a post, it has to be based on evidence, not opinion.
They must deal with lots of reports every day. They wouldn't have the resources to investigate each one. It makes sense to me that someone reporting for self-promo must be basing that on something. If it’s based on nothing more than a hunch, we shouldn't expect MSE to take action. But if they can show evidence to back up their hunch, then MSE can remove the post.
People can report maliciously or because they mean well. Either way, it’s better for the person reporting to do just a little evidence gathering, to back up their claim, rather than expect MSE to keep playing Sherlock Holmes on everyone else’s whim.

The main problem is that even when you do take the time to supply the evidence they still don't act on it. You don't bother again after that.0
