We like the game of Labrynth, our grandson is 8 and he got this last christmas.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

Every year either me or my brother would be given a games compendium as a Christmas present. Lots of games to choose from0

We have younger children and enjoy playing board and card games. As a family we like Uno, boggle slam (athough the 5 yo needs help with this one), frustration, mikado(sp?), and the junior versions of scrabble and monopoly. We also have orchard toys games which are good. When we go to my parents they have an old games compendium and play snakes and ladders, ludo, horse racing, draughts, pick up stick and some others also, boggle, cluedo.
Last year we also bought a lego game which is great especially if you like lego.0 -
Scene it Harry Potter is brilliant.0

We are going to do Christmas dingbats at the table. There are free Christmassy sheets online. If you don't have the board game get into two team, each team takes turns trying to solve one against an egg timer. Team to get the most right wins.
If you've never played, google "free dingbats" and try. It's addictive!0 -
Monopoly, Cranium ,Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, Carcassonne,Taboo and Uno along with several others all go down well in our house.
The first four you can get junior versions0 -

Or don't know what it's called but we write down people, places or objects on pieces of paper fold them over and in teams try and guess who, where or what we are talking about without saying what's on the paper.0 -
We love playing games at Xmas - trivial pursuit, monopoly, scattergories, cluedo - we tend to play character versions of these (Simpsons, Star Wars, Disney etc) makes them more fun. This year I want to buy Big Bang Theory Cluedo as we all watch the show, just keeping my eye out for best price. We also have an xmas puzzle that we do every year which is a Simpsons one, I bought it in Tk Maxx about 6 years ago and it's become a tradition.
For anyone who has top trumps cards you can buy Top Trumps Tournament which uses 4 packs at a time, puts a different spin on just playing with one pack of cards, most years I put a top trumps set in one or both of my kids stockings even though they will be 15 and 17 this Xmas.0 -
Pictionary is one of my favorites. The kids are so much better than me at drawing but that adds to the fun.0

We really liked Dobble last year. It is a game for all ages (except maybe the much older with poor eyesight), and is a bit like 'snap' but all us adults had great fun playing the many variations last year. I also took it to use at my Girlguide unit (10-14yr old girls) who all loved it too. Very small tin with cards in, and not too expensive but great fun.0
