  • we used to play this a lot - who ate the chocolate cake - younger version of cluedo,

but son is now 13 and is monopoly, cludeo and game of life(our new board game last xmas)
  • For the younger ones, the game that comes out over and over again in the school club I work in is Guess who.

The other game that is very popular for the older children and could be played by more agile adults is twister. If played with several people at once it is more difficult and can be quite amusing to watch.
  • We love the new Game for Life with credit cards instead of paper money. As much as I didn't want to succumb to a new idea (I liked the idea of teaching them about counting out money etc) they loved it and it's usually the one we all choose. We've had it about 4 years and my kids are 12 and 15 now.

RISK is always a winner - we bought the LOTR version last year. Also, cluedo, and the Harry Potter version is good.

We also play games with post-its. Everyone has a famous person's name stuck on their forehead and you go around the circle asking yes/no questions until you work out who you are.

Monopoly, Game of Life, Family Fortunes and Sussed go down well in our house
  • Bought the Logo board game, played it last Christmas day and was great fun with easy to understand rules - definitely an easygoing family game.

  • We love to play the Mexican Train game. It's like a better version of dominoes! Also love good old fashioned cards, usually contract whist or
Uno. Taboo still goes down well as does trivial pursuit!
  • We like UNO and charades.
  • In my house we do this also every year I buy the children a new game. Last year was rummikub it's great for older children. Logo game is good also monopoly goes down well.
My boys have allways liked the classics like connect 4 and frustration.
    Hope this helps
