I use Rpoints , also use quidco now and then.

Good thing about rpoints is they have a highest cashback promise so if quidco etc have higher % I get rpoints to match it afterwards:money:

Edit- Quidco is now my main cashback site of choice :)

I thought I'd share a negative of view of Quidco: I've had transactions that just didn't track, which is particularly odd as I have often bought something right afterwards that did track from Quidco. And I use firefox!

In addition, I have submitted enquiries that have either not been addressed or incorrectly declined - and you really have no right of reply. It is not a guarantee of money, I know they say that, but on the other hand they take money if you make some, so I am a little disheartened.

I would use another cashback site, but I wouldn't know where to start. Definitely try one, you've nothing to lose. ;)

I'm sorry Gooding has negative feedback on Quidco. I have done about £312 since Oct 06 completely free money, nothing was extra or more expensive, everything has tracked.

My only problem was a lack of payouts initially which I queried with Quidco, and didn't really get a satisfactory response (they did respond, but didn't offer a solution, which was to lower my payment minimum). When I discovered this was the problem, things started paying out beautifully.

  • It can be annoying when transactions don't track and customer services isnt fantastic, but if you delete your cookies, it is well worth doing.

Hi, i have been using quidco for a few months no major purchases but mainly joining things and using kelkoo etc. My question is why would you delete your cookies as mentioned previously as i thought that was what actually stored your info to be tracked. Therefore if you delete them surely you lose the info.

I am now thinking of doing one of the big money car insurances and not sure whether to clear my cookies or not:confused: . I need help:huh:

I would delete cookies and history in internet options and close browser then reopen new one and go straight to quidco sign in and visit your merchant , you have 7 days (distance selling regs) on most things to change your mind if it doesnt track , then start again

I don't understand the cookies point. Why is it necessary to clear them? I only use Explorer. If cookies are deleted all the good ones you want to keep are gone too?

it may be that the cookies that 'gather' on your PC can confuse Quidco's tracking mechanism. Having older/existing cookies for a site you purchase from may mean that the Quidco re-direct uses the 'old' cookies and the cashback cannot apply. At least that would make sense to me.

It's only necessary to clear your cookies if you've already been on the web site that you wish to get cashback for using. For instance, say I'm looking for new car insurance and browse onto various web sites to check what the policies actually cover and some of the fine print, then I decide to go with Prudential. I check Quidco, and there's cashback available for car policies with Prudential. My browser already has a Prudential cookie on it, so when I use the link from Quidco, the tracking cookie won't be taken up at that point because there's already a Prudential cookie there.

I always clear cookies before using the cashback sites because I don't want to risk the tracking not working and that I might lose the cashback. They say that if the tracking doesn't work you can just start again, but that's not true. Some merchants don't show the tracking for a few days, by which time your insurance is in force\goods are on the van etc., so you can't really say "Oops can we start again as this hasn't tracked properly ... "

A cookie holds information about the time and date you visited a site, and any login or registration details. When using the cashback sites, the cashback is a reward that they are given by the merchant for introducing you to them. The cashback sites just choose to pass all or some of that reward to you. The merchants will be happy not to have to pay out the cashback if it's obvious that you have already visited their site. That's why it's a good idea to clear cookies first.

Although the tracking doesn't show up on your account for hours or days afterwards, the relevant information is passed straight away and you can clear your cookies again if you wish as soon as you log out of e.g. Quidco without affecting the transaction you've just made.
