  • OP - the NCB argument doesn't add up. If YOU put down that YOUR licence had only been held for 18 months yet YOUR NCB was 3 years I'd understand. They have no idea what they are talking about.

I suspect, like others, that they think you are fronting by putting yourself as the named driver and making a right pigs ear in their explanation accusing you of such. It doesn't matter who is the higher risk, whoever is the main driver should be noted as the main driver. The rates should still reflect the fact that you have a high risk NAMED driver and if their system doesn't do that, it's their problem.

Sounds like they've made a mistake somewhere and they're desperately trying to rectify it without making themselves look bad, which is truly failing.

Put in a written complaint as per their procedures but I'd certainly consider looking at alternatives if this is the service you are going to receive.

Do you realise that you are replying to a post that is over two years old and the OP has not been active on the forums since then.

I was obliged to do this for years (husband main driver of my car, bought, paid for, registered and driven by ME), until my husband got his Motability car, but my insuror (not broker) said that between husband and wife it was fine.

edit: ooops, didn't realise this was an old thread.
