Long haul to Cayman - when to book?

  • I don't think BA operate directly from Manchester to the U.S. You will most likely end up on US Airways or American Airlines (who codeshare the route)
  • I have been listed flights from Manchester to JFK and to Philly which state operated by BA although I am becoming aware that it doesn't necessarily mean you will fly with the airline you book with!
Why can't they just show a uniform price for a route with the notice that the flight may be with anyone of a number of airlines who are working together?
It must be so annoying to find you've booked with one airline, are sitting on another next to someone who booked with yet another and paid considerably less than you did!!!
I'm at the stage where I don't care which airline I fly on I just want to be sure the ticket I book is correct and the price is right!!!

If an agent is pretending BA operate any transatlantic flights from Manchester, they are lying and best avoided. BA has one route from Manchester and that is to Heathrow.
  • And here was I thinking that booking a flight/s would be so easy!!
    so
don't book a transatlantic flight with BA from Manchester because they don't
Be careful which booking agent you use because some are shysters
If you book with the airline don't do it by phone as they'll charge a booking fee

Thanks to MSE I've learned most of the above and I'm now more scared than ever to make the booking!!!

I have to wait now as DS has a job interview in a week that may alter the dates - at least it gives me time to do more research! LOL

Who is saying they're operated by BA? I find it hard to believe they'd lie - I'd personally assume you're just misreading it.

And a BA codeshare on AA/US out of Manchester doesn't necessarily mean you pay more. I've booked Iberia codeshares on BA flights before because they were much cheaper than BA direct.
