2 potential jobs?

Options
Please help!

I had a 2nd interview yesterday and left with a good vibe. Let's call this company X. Job at company X (well known publishing group) is good pay, good prospects and in the city. However the position is for a brand new team so everyone hired will be new and the work and vibe would be exciting however I can see long nights and lots of ad hoc work.

Today, I have been lucky enough to receive a interview with my local hospital but its in 2 weeks time. The pay is probably around 4-5k less but is 3 mins drive and is more stable and flexible.

Now, I'm going to hear from company X tomorrow and if I am lucky enough to receive a job offer, how do I delay it so that I can attend the hosptial interview in 2 weeks time? Should I lie and say I'm going on holiday (I'm currently unemployed) and will be back in 2 weeks time? Or shall I accept first and say I can't start until 2 weeks time?

Ohhh I don't know what to do!!

Thanks

Thanks Porter790, if I am blessed to be offered the job tomorrow, I think I should accept first and see how it goes.

If you are unemployed and claiming JSA, you should definitely be accepting the first job if it is offered. In fact, even if you are not claiming JSA, I would still accept the job.

If you get the second offer, you can then decide which you really want.

Well I didn't get the job afterall, feel so deflated now. Have been looking since Jan and been to so many interviews to keep getting turned down. In every interview I keep getting the same answer and I just don't believe it anymore, they always say they were very impressed but just that the candidates were very strong and that it was a hard choice..

I feel like giving up. It feels so horrible.

I guess I'll have no problem going to the hospital interview then.

dont be down about it,its not worth it.on the bright side u still have ya hospital interview to go to.your not alone, ive been to loads of interviews and always get the same old crap,to hard to decide,u were all very good, there was so many.the way u look at is that its their loss, not yours, for not employing you.keep thinking to ya self of all the benefits and skills u have to offer some employer, sum always comes along when u least expect it.

    chin up and keep tryingwink.gif

Porter is right - it's not meant for you. The hospital job might work out much better for you, or something much better will come along.
