Legality of having two jobs (at the same time).

We're talking two billion pound a year turnover companies and me being a massive relative small fry in the grand scheme of things. I just don't see this happening.
I don't see any company more especially my current one (as they are the most relevant here) having legal leverage over me or having the will to drag me through a court for 2 weeks pay. It's just not a realistic scenario, is it?
Personally, I think the fact that it's a big company makes it more, not less, likely that they will make an example of you if and when they find out. Firstly they'll want to make it clear to all their other employees that they won't tolerate this sort of action, and secondly, they'll have a legal department on hand who can follow it up for a minimal cost.0 -
Are you sure about the references? In my place it was a manager further up the line whose name and signature were on them, but it was passed to me as the direct line manager to actually complete the form.
I did have a candidate I offered a job to, who lied and said they'd had no sickness when they were off sick to go to interviews. I found out when I phoned their line manager to verbally verify the reference which was our standard policy. To say they were surprised that an employee who'd been off sick for a month was applying for jobs and claiming good health is an understatement. I retracted the job offer and I would guess his other company didn't welcome him back with open arms.
He also thought he'd get away with it. Some people might. Is it really worth the chance.?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Someone tried this where I used to work. The person was sacked from both jobs, and then sued by both companies to reclaim the money paid to the person while in both jobs, on the basis that the person was committing fraud. The person was going sick to work at the other and vice versa.
I wouldn't recommend it, I doubt it did their CV much good0 -

His company would have had no choice but to take him back...they obviously weren't a very professional outfit disclosing confidential information like that being left wide open to be sued. If you are a manager (which i doubt) you wouldn't be niave enough to bury your head in the sand and realise people do use sick time to for interviews. Both yours and their company sound like small time organisations.0 -

What utter nonsense!0 -
You may not like what I have to say, I wouldn't be too sure about the references thing. Its not illegal, its just your lying to both employers, yes I know your doing it to be sure the job works out but it could backfire on you.0

Nope. Large national company. Which is fully aware that people pull sickies, and take the appropriate disciplinary action when they get caught out. However if you wish to carry on burying your head in the sand because you don't like the answers, feel free to carry on.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

OP's previous posts make for interesting reading - unable to hold down a long term job, high rate of sickness absence, several issues with colleagues/managers. OP you need to look at what you want from life, if you carry on the way you are you're on a fast track to nowhere.0

LOL judging by your post count the only one unemployable person here is yourself
not me who has two jobs on the table . You can sense the bitterness from your post.
Good luck with the creditors
There was absolutely no need for that at all. Don't ask for advice (especially on issues of dubious morality) if you are going to insult those who offer it.
You would be committing fraud if you claimed that you were too ill to work one job whilst working another similar one. And if the employers don't rumble you, the taxman certainly will - when the two Payroll departments submit their tax data on you.
You mention in another thread that one of your colleagues had made "death threats" against you? Perhaps, if this is how you view matters such as honesty in the workplace and personal integrity, her antagonism is less surprising.
You are either a troll or a fool - possibly both. But if your situation is genuine, then I sincerely wish you the very best of what will inevitably come your way. And it will be nobody's fault but your own.0
