Hello All
I see most of the broadband deals posted on this site are for you lucky people who live in towns or citys. If you live in the country then BT has not opened the exchanges for the providers to put their own kit in them.(LLU)
Does anybody know of the best deals for us stuck in non LLU exchange areas.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

BT are doing a deal for unlimited broadband through mse. It's £5.00 a month for 12 months.

Probably one of the cheapest options in a market 1 exchange area. CS isn't great but the price is good.0 -
Thanks for that. Anybody else got any ideas?
We are currently with Eclipse Internet. Evolution Option 1
We pay £12.99 a month.
This gives us about 6mb speed max. and 20gb of data within peak times.
(only usage in the peak hours of 6pm to midnight counts toward the limit.)
It's not bad but I think we could now do better.0 -
The exchanges are open to any LLU provider who wants to make the considerable investment required to have a presence. In most cases, they'll have done their homework and worked out that they can never recover the investment, given the limited no. of customers they could attract on smaller rural exchanges.
So it's not any fault of BT.No free lunch, and no free laptop

They are all open. Just because they are open doesn't mean other providers are obliged to go in and offer services.cheeseypeas wrote: »If you live in the country then BT has not opened the exchanges for the providers to put their own kit in them.(LLU)Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
I see. Sorry for my ignorance.
Quite a few isp's will still supply me but at an inflated cost. I have signed up for the BT deal as I think its probably the best I will get but for all the other people who can't get O2 broadband or talk talk shouldn't there be a thread for them? Just to be a little more inclusive?
Many Thanks0 -

But the terms on which they have access and the cost is high - perhaps above the real cost.0 -
We were in a similar situation until 10 days ago, when I rang BT to see if they could match Plusnets deal for us, also a rural Market 1 exchange. Plusnet were going to be wanting about £15.50 for unlimited BB and an Anytime calling plan, but without pushing, BT gave us a new 12 months deal at £10.65 a month for unlimited BB and Anytime calls, plus all the normal BT services that come with any package. We had already paid line rental in advance.
No-one else seemed to be anywhere close to that.

BT were losing customers hand over fist until they introduced these ultra competitive market 1 deals recently....I've been approached several times in the last couple of months ......but the deal I negotiated with the Plusnet retention team in June for u/l bband and Evening/weekend calls was even better than BT!!0
