Still trying to decide which car to buy...........
Have pretty much whittled it down to three cars now, but just wondered if any of you has any experience of these particular makes and models.
1. New shape Ford Ka
2. Skoda Citigo
3. Kia Picanto
As previously mentioned, I am looking for reliability and economy.
Any opinions/comments gratefully received.
Just wish I wasn't so indecisive:o

Total guesswork, but assume you get more for your money with the Kia? 7 year warranty on them?
Autotrader etc will have expert and owners reviews and ratings0 -

New shape Ford KA is basically a Fiat 500 (and assembled in the same factory). As you see far more Fiat 500's than Ford KA's on the road, I would suggest that you consider looking at the 500.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. Autoexpress love the Skoda Citigo.

Crowned the Auto Express Best City Car of 2013, the Skoda Citigo is as spacious as the VW up! - and cheaper

I absolutely agree, I've had 3 Honda's and they've been very reliable.
If you want to stick to the 3 options I would go gfor the Skoda, as it's a cheaper VW.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
Personally I'd choose the Citigo from your list. Fantastic little car.0

Got an Up so can give you some idea about the Citigo. The fuel economy is actually pretty good, can't say for the 60hp engine but the 75hp has never dropped below 50mpg in the 2 years I've had it. It has probably averaged around 57mpg over the 2 years.
It is roomy even for big people.
You will need a calendar to plan overtakes but that may not be a problem if overtaking gets banned for cars with an smaller engine than 2.0 litres so that won't be a worry anyway.
There's no bootlight which is remarkably annoying though is nothing a little D.I.Y can't fix.
Reliability-wise, I've had a problem with warped brakes at 10,000 miles, the heat shield warped and fell down onto the exhaust and was rattling (fixed under warranty). The gearchange from 1st through to 3rd is noisy but apparently normal.
Running costs really are cheap-as-chips. It's gone through more oil than I've experienced with any other car but we're still talking about only 1ltr a year so hardly the end of the world. Tyres at the front we're replaced at 29,000 miles but still had about 3mm of tread, the backs are currently sitting at around 3.2 at 31,500 miles. Replacements cost around £60 - £100 per tyre (inc fitting).
If there's anything else you need to know just ask.
Oh and if you want a central arm rest, SEAT do one for the Mii and it fit's the Up/Citigo too0 -
I wouldn't even consider the KA, the Fiesta I'd have though.
Also the KA is about to be replaced and the current one wasn't a strong seller so I can't imagine the residuals being anything like the Fiat 500.
I'd go with the Skoda.
Have you considered the new Hyundai i10?0 -

Yes I have considered the i10 but would prefer the new shape, which of course is still rather expensive. You would think that the old shape would be as cheap as chips now, but I haven't seen any for sale at knock down prices.
Do like the 5 year warranty though:)
Don't know how economical an i10 would be in terms of mpg.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I'd be tempted by the new Twingo if I was after a city car.0
