Car Hire options - UK to German via France.

Hi,
Wonder if people can suggest some good travel options.
My 2 peice band is playing some gigs in France & Germany and are trying to find the best way to drive with our gear.
The plan was initially to hire a car in the UK and drive, but the steering would be the wrong side for Europe.
Plan B could be to drive our car over on the ferry to a nearby car rental place. Switch the gear into a hire car, tour for the 5 days, then load it all back into our car and back on the boat.
Does this seem the most sensible (Cheapest!)? Be interested to hear other ideas.
Thanks,
Shawn.

Driving in Europe with the steering on the wrong side isn't difficult - the main issues are overtaking on single carriageway roads and toll booths/car park barriers etc.
However finding a UK car hire company that will let you take the car over the channel isn't so easy. There are some around I believe, but you may have to pay extra.
Plan B could work, but if you're driving your car to France, why not drive it all the way?Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
I would try Hertz, they have a place in nearly every country and I have to admit that I've had good experiences with them for the last 3/4 years-X-Missima-X-0
