service providers don't recognise my number

I'm having a problem with getting the internet.
All service providers are failing to recognise my phone number, even bt, the people who provide my phone service can't seem to check the line for data or something because the number 'does not exist' apparently. Even though it is working fine.
My friend said that they managed to get Bt internet a couple days after their phone line was set up in their new build. I've had the line active for 3 days.
I looked at the tiscalli website and it says something similar to:
" A check on your telephone line shows that there is no data available for this number.
This could be either because it is not a BT line or it is a new BT number that has just been provided. Most new numbers will appear on the checker 24 hours after BT has installed the line.
However, in a very few cases, new numbers may not be reported immediately to the availability checker. These numbers will only be discovered and added to the availability checker following our regular audit and cross-checking process and this may take up to six weeks. "
Bt and talktalk both state my number does not match postcode or does not exist.
???
I may sound like i need the internet crazily soon, but I do really need to start my uni work for my final year, and the internet is a vital source

Ok, call your telephony provider & ensure the number you have is the correct one as they cant seem to place an order for broadband on it0

Hi, I know it's frustrating, was in the same boat last year. It took nearly seven days for the line to be recognised even by BT's own broadband checker.
How long have you had the line 'live' for making voice calls?
Your line is flagged as either 'active' or 'inactive', and for 'active' it's either 'HELD' or 'NOT HELD' determining the status of broadband on an active line. It can take a while sometimes for the line to be flagged as active, which is when it becomes recognised as a line capable of being used for a broadband service.
Patience looks like the name of the game especially if it's just be installed.
H.Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.0
