buying the IPhone abroad??

I'm going on Holiday to Florida next year and am wondering whether I would be better off buying the new iphone when I am over there? Is this possible? Would it be cheaper and would it work in the UK (ie. Can I buy just a sim in the UK??) Any advise would be great, thank you!

There are differences in the LTE bands they will receive.

US phones do not receive the LTE bands of....
38 (TD 2600)

39 (TD 1900)

40 (TD 2300)

41 (TD 2500)

I don't think these are in current UK use, but are elsewhere in Europe.
