Orange/EE iPhone6 contract shenanigans

Don't forget Apple does finance through Barclays - I stuck with the £15 unlimited data tariff I have with 3 (excellent network as long as you don't have to call them for anything) and ordered the 6 plus 64gb through Apple finance at £33 a month for 2 years.
No down-payment and £48 a month overall for the latest phone with extra memory plus the option to overpay if i need and the ability to move network if i need to. Seemed the best option available.Alcohol-free to be debt-free (26/09/2014) :beer:0 -
for pretty much every smart phone it is cheaper on ee as orange are trying to push people onto 4g handsets/tarriffs.
Not cheaper in this instance....

You should be able to cancel your current EE/Orange/T-Mobile contract PENALTY FREE!*
Then sell your old phone on one of the many "recycling" sites and put the cash towards a sim free iphone6 and go sim only with who ever has the best deal for you (I personally find Three to be best with unlimited data (inc 4G) at £12.90 p.m.).
* So why a Penalty Free cancellation.
If you took your contract before 23rd January 2014 then you would have got a message from EE (and brands) telling you they were changing the T&Cs from 26th March 2014. Now you probably ignored that notification because EE made it seem that the change was nothing serious, but in fact it allowed EE to increase its price every year by a higher amount than they were entitled to before!
So far 97% of customers (about 80) who have taken a case to CISAS (the independent adjudicator) have won their case, you keep the phone, and receive a PAC code, and most also received £100 compensation due to the way EE behaved when customers first contacted them requesting cancellation - You can read the whole thread here (link goes to a won case).

The good news is that although EE think they have sneaked this through as you had only 30 days to request a cancellation, due to the manner in which they notified you (I bet you never realised they could now use a higher inflation rate from the notification they sent you) then the 30 day limit does not apply. Everything you need can be found on this forum:

Enjoy that new iphone6 courtesy of EEs greed!!0
