Well happy to offer help and support! Just don't stress yourself out and try to take on too much if you are about to start treatment!

An SOA would be a good start though - then all the clever people on here can suggest ways to save

  • I am overwhelmed by everyones good messages. Ive dropped some work hours but am pulling some hours to doa specific task. I worked very late last night and as a consequence I am tired today.

Im not sure at the moment if I will be able to continue working in a role which has targeted things which you deliver and those timeframes havent moved despite me working less hours.

it looks like I will need to move into another, less responsible role. It probably will mean less money and I will have to look at tax credits etc I suppose.

However, I shall package some ebay when I have an hour off later. I will want to up that litte gravy train.

No running last night due to working to 21.30. I did however have my tea made and a few nice cuppas.

    :)

  • Haha Brizz peaks and troughs are what we have in life, mine is just a bit troughy at the moment.

My old dog, is 16. Shes been struggling since last year, on and off with a degenerative condition. It affects her spinal cord and results in loss of nerve tissue in the back legs. Its meant she chews at her legs and this makes open, weeping sores.I have bandaged them and taped them so they dont get worse or infected.

Another sad aspect of the illness is, while theres no pain, theres no co ordination. She knuckles over and cant keep her balance. For a previously agile dog, its upsetting to watch.

In her mind, shes sharp and happy. Her determination to cope has meant for about three months she has happily dragged her errant back end about in search of a tid bit or a bit fuss. Her front legs are so muscular.

This week she has lost bladder control. Its upsetting for her every time, she knows its happened. I cant put my dog in a nappy. We know, the rainbow bridge is beckoning. I cant see my strong willed, characterful friend sitting in her own mess, and that will be next as we know the progression. Its been so hard BUT we have tried everything. Physiotherapy, steroids, swimming....

Anyway, the prognosis for the condition is not good, we need to man up and manage things for her.

We are a 2 dog family, we will all need to adjust when the change comes. We know we will get another pup at some point, and if it is half the friend, character and solid companion of my old girl, it will be solid gold.

Vets tonight, and I will let you know what happens.
