Unhappy with washing machine purchase from Currys

OP Try the other programmes. Longer programmes were introduced to improve washing machine performance at lower temperatures and use less water. They cost little, if anything, more than shorter programmes.
Does this machine have a fast or long spin only programme?. If so try that after your 50 minute wash.
According to this http://www.indesit.co.uk/indesit/_pdf/manuals/19511256201_GB.pdf the closest to your 50 minute, 30 degree wash is 60 minutes and has a 600 rpm spin.0 -
I know how the OP feels , when my Miele machine gave up the ghost I replaced it with what I thought was the same as my old machine . However I find the 20 minute wash ok for some things , but the other washes take nearly 2 hours or the other option the spin is too slow. In the grand scheme of things it is petty but I do miss my old machine.0

I recently replaced a twenty year old Bosch washing machine.
On researching new models I was surpirsed to find that programmes now take much longer. So the machine uses less electiricty for longer - not really saving anything. 2 kws an hour costs the same as 1 kw for 2 hours.
I settled on the new equivalent of my old one which has a choice of an eco programme which cute the washing time by more than half to 1 hour 6 minutes for a 60 degree wash but still gives a 1200 rpm spin.
My clothes come out cleaner and drier than they did with my old machine.0 -
A washing machine will use about 2000 watts to heat the water. This takes a guestimate 10 minutes. The rest of the cycle will fluctuate between about 5 watts and 250 watts. The majority of energy used is to heat water. Longer wash programmes are the result of achieving equal washing results while using less hot water with the intention of reducing running costs..

The spin speed or duration makes almost no difference to the energy used.0 -
You need to weigh the washing before you put it on that quick wash as if you go over the weight limit it WILL come out sopping wet.0
