Can anyone recommend a hotel in New York?

we are going next year and have booked Hotel Metro as part of a package with British Airways
This was recommended by someon who had stayed there, also the Salibury as mentioned above ws recommended but I couldnt get this as part of a package deal so worked out more expensive
I also fancied the Fairfield at Midtown but as this was more expensive than the Metro Hotel this made my decision. Both included breakfast which I thought would save some money as OH isnt a morning eater and I like cereal etc. Fairfield had a kitchen area but as it was over £300 dearer I didnt think it was worth it
I stayed at The Hotel Metro 2 years ago. Great location, easy access to the Tube system and within easy walking distance of Times Square, Empire State Building and Top of the Rock.
Breakfast is basic and can get crowded as only lounge type seating, but enough to get you through to Lunch.0 -
We're looking to go sometime next year so looking for hotel recs atm
Unbeliveably there's a New York thread for these Q's
Used to be a sticky but the MSE idiots decided a revamp of the forum needed all stickies removing :mad:The decision to move all stickies into one was made by Martin. Once we've launched our new Forum redesign you'll have a better understanding of why it makes sense.
Still waiting for their "new" format. or is this it?0 -

Nice to know you are so respectful for the people who run and keep control the site in operation.
I guess the reason there were not as many 'stickies' was down to the fact that with all of them together it almost took up the whole first page !
If you cannot help the O/P and have a beef with no stickies then you contact the admin of the site to voiced your opinion !
BTW opening poster I have tried the amazing 'Pearl' Hotel a couple of times and in 10 days time stopping at the Hilton garden on 7th and 48th, got some great deals on both as booked well in advance, but believe the short booking rate may be through the roof now."Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

Before the stickies the whole of the first page was about "Where can I get a room in New York."

The answer is in the

We are going to New York next summer and have just booked 3 nights at the InterContinental Times Square. We haven't been to New York before but have stayed at the InterContinental London Park Lane which was lovely.
As you may expect for a 5* hotel in the centre of New York, it's pretty expensive (over $800 per night with taxes) but there is a special promotion at the moment where you can get a huge discount..
You can buy points for the hotels loyalty scheme (IHG Rewards Club) and they are currently offering a 100% bonus. You can then use the points to pay for the room. We managed to book 3 nights for around £570 which would have cost almost £1600. If you are interested, let me know and I will show you how it works. I think the bonus points offer finishes in the next few days.0 -
We stayed at Roomate Grace......just fabulous. Perfectly placed and a pool!0

I am with you...it made no sense to me to remove the stickies, you now get info all over the place.
I am thinking of going to New york for the first time next year and if I didnt know that there used to be a sticky I prob wouldnt find it0 -
If you are on a budget look at long island city (queens) you can get some good deals and still be in times square in 20mins and it works a lot better than new jersey as you are still part of the new york transport system meaning you only need a metrocard to get about0

I stayed at the La Quinta Inn on 32nd St. Free breakfast, free wi-fi, good location. A slightly older hotel (although it's now been renovated), but clean and tidy.0
