    Morning all,

Could not get on yesterday my laptop had a hissy fit on friday night and would not start OH managed to get it going but I have lost all of my photos, ones of my darling dad who we lost last year and hundreds of family ones and dd growing up, I was so upset we can hopefully get them back though, I am waiting for a call from someone.

Had a bad day all together friday, got home and ran a lovely hot bath, got in and put a bit more cold in, went to turn the cold tap off and the tap snapped off in my hand !! cold water pouring like a fountain, cue me screaming for OH who had to turn the water off at the mains then get some spanners to fix the tap, all the while I was standing there shivvering and dripping wet !

DD stayed over last night she is still in bed, I will leave her for a while as she looks shattered, I think she may have been partying a bit too much :D

Got the bedding in the wm will hang it out after this and we need to have a good tidy through.

Have good days all, Hester I hope the baby comes quickly for your dd xx

Good Morning everyone, was sitting with my feet up yesterday afternoon when youngest DD arrived with a lovely bunch of gladioli's for me,bless her she is a good lass :)Then she said come on Mum Ben wants us to go out for a ride somewhere as a family as its his last free Saturday afternoon before Uni.So we all trooped off to Herne Bay front for the afternoon.A walk along there in the sun very nice then a hot cuppa at Makari's with a milk shake for the boys.Ben is excited if a bit nervous.I had a good hunt around my bookshelves for him and found an old book called 'Grub on a Grant' by Cas Clarke which I'll pass on to him this afternoon when I go around there for dinner.Looks quite interesting, I think I found it years ago in a second-hand book shop for 20p.Might help him in cooking for himself and not living on pot noodles :):):)
No shopping to get really as I am trying to stay away from the shops and only have tomatoes and fruit to buy anyway..I'll try to last out until Tuesday if I can.
Hope you all have a great Sunday whatever you are doing :):):)

islandmaid I am interested in trying to find out the history of the Theatre at the top of Sun Hill, plus I think you said ages ago that the W.I. have a records place in Newport and I'm hoping to find it when I come over to the island next year.
I know the house that my late OH was born in in Pallance Road (two up from The Travellers Joy pub) has been replaced by new housing (shame really as his granddad William Jenkins built them. His ancestors farmed Dukes Farm in Rew Street, and most of them are buried in Northwood church graveyard.I find genealogy and history facinating. When I go up to Scotland this Friday I am meeting up with descendants of my Gt,Great Granddads brother from Australia and Canada. Should be interesting to say the least I have had photo's from the Australian cousins and the family resembalance is really weird as we are all so alike to look at (strong gene pool :):):))
Well enough waffling I must get the kettle on for my coffee as the Archers is due on the wireless
    Cheers chums

  • Morning all,

Hester - Exciting, waiting for the baby's arrival :)

Had a lovely day with DD yesterday and lots of fun helping her into and out of her dress and petticoat with various amounts of hoops! It's quite warm under all that dress!
DH is getting on my nerves big time. I can't wait for him to go back to work. He sits there on his laptop or watching tv, either tapping (and not on the keyboard keys) or whistling, which he knows drives me mental!!! Grrrrrrrr. I keep trying to find things to do in another part of the house but knowing he is still there doing it still winds me up.

    Moan over.

Don't have anything planned for today. Might do the housework, at least the hoover will drown out DH :rotfl:

Chicken and something for dinner tonight.

Have a good day all :)
  • Good morning everyone :)

Still feel awful, not helped or encouraged by the fact DH started with his symptoms one week ago today and is still ill.

Access problems could be due to the big googlemail hack. I was locked out of facebook twice, Etsy and Pinterest too. It appears if you use the same password as gmail for any other site, that is a security risk. Now I am struggling remembering all my new passwords.

We watched last night of the proms, it looked like everyone was having great fun in the Royal Albert Hall and in Hyde Park. Was the idea of broadcasting it outside in Hyde Park and Belfast a new idea, I don't remember seeing that before? I wonder why they didn't broadcast in Wales and Scotland too .... or maybe Mr Salmond would not have allowed the Scottish one!

It's not raining so the bathroom stuff is outside drying and the bedding is now in the wash.

Am inspired by sistercas to make some fried rice for dinner, haven't been eating much except soup but could really fancy that. Will see what bits and bobs I have in fridge or freezer to add to it.

Hester - hope the baby arrives soon x

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Morning all  - dull and overcast start to today here ............. as if it doesn't known how to make up it's mind ;).

Started the day in true 'lazy Sunday morning fashion' - only 'housewifey-type thing' that's been done is some HSwash.gif. Will need to people566.gif shortly and get another load into the machine.

Living Room needs sorting out - but at the moment, I can't be asred ;).

I think I'm like this because I had a hectic Saturday - visited three venues on the Heritage Weekend schedule. Had intended to go to another two today, but think I need to stay home. I've an idea that OH is feeling neglected/abandoned recently :o.

Hester - hope your DD 'gets a shufty on' soon with your new grandchild. Can't be long now before you get your arms around that cuddly, little bundle :).

tru - sorry to hear your chooks have had problems with mites - my DS2 is just 'getting into' keeping hens. He's got 3 small ones at the moment and said they're settling down beautifully in their run/hen-house on his allotment. I'd love some myself, but not sure I could manage to keep them secure as there's no 'physical gate' to my rear garden - none of our flats have gates to the gardens. I'd be worried about them escaping or 'the local urban fox' and/or next-door's Staffie prowling around.

HSbestwishes1.gif for all celebrating birthdays or anniversaries :j.

    HShugsbluepink1.gif for who need one.

That's it, I need to 'get my backside into gear' ................... and show willing. OH is muttering something about 'what's to eat for tonight' - flaming men!

speak later - luv Lilyplonk xxx

  • Good Morning everyone, lovely sunny and bright down here so we were up early, housework done, lurcha walked and went off to a local boot fair where I found some nice wooden toys for the Zebra child,a lovely old blue and white jug for me along with a 1970s Mince Cookery Book with lots of budget ideas, a real treasure, a WW2 tiny oil lamp called a Kelly Lamp less than 3" high and with a weighted bottom to stop it from being knocked over, it's in really good condition and even has it's wick and only £3 can't be bad.

He Who Knows is on the lottie finishing off digging a big piece of ground and he is taking our cider making gear to a friend this afternoon as said friend has a glut of pears and wants to have a go at making PERRY so the hound and I will have a leisurely walk and see what I can find that's autumny for my seasonal bowl which is something I love specially at this time of year and so far I've got walnuts and hazelnuts in it. If I'm lucky today I'll find acorns and conkers and maybe some ripe ash keys, it all looks so nice in the hearth and costs not a penny, can't be bad can it?

Hope your DD isn't too long in labour HESTER, exciting as well as scary for those waiting for a new little person to arrive, good luck!!! Lyn xxx.

    Morning Morning!

I love Sundays, I have been for a run (nearly 5 miles!! A half marathon seems possible now!) and made a pot of vegetable soup and also a pot of sweet potato and lentil curry. I have also done 2 loads of washing and am about ready for a couple of hours on the sofa.

OH is still at work, need to get him to pick up some bread.

My amazingly generous and lovely dad yesterday told us that he is going to help us finance our houseboat!!! We have to come up with 10% of the cost and he'll sort out the rest and we'll just pay him back instead of a bank. I am SO excited!! So the real research is about to being as we've not decided if we want a traditional boat or a static one. - This also means our saving hats are going to be well and truely on, so need to cut all spends, I'm literally willing to live on beans on toast for 6 months if it means we can get out of renting and into somewhere we can finally call our own!

I hope every one is okay and you've all had a good weekend x x

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • So far I've hardboiled some eggs for next weeks packups, picked some cucumbers, hung up the last of the sage to dry, made 4 trays of apple crisps & now I'm going to make a apple tray bake.

Roast pork for lunch, with HG carrots, potatoes & runner beans, yummy.

I've spoken to both DD's & both are doing ok, so can relax for a couple of hours.

Last week I was gifted some 'old' bedding for my patchwork by a colleague who had bought new for all her beds, it's in better condition than the bedding on my beds lol!

    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
