OS Daily thread Sunday 14th September

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Chin up, Titus out.

  • Morning all

Fish fed, hubby has a cuppa on his bedside table, DD2 is still chugging along with regular contractions, it's a waiting game now.

Hubby & I are planning of having DD1's 8 & 9 year old next weekend if they don't have any plans as her hubby is away for 3 weeks in America.

I went to bed at 8.15 last night & slept through to 6.30 this morning, so hopefully I'll get lots done today.

Plans today include more washing, the first load is already on the line, processing more tomatoes, chilies & picking runner beans to go with Sunday lunch.

I'm hoping to get more done on my quilt, but it keeps getting put of in favour of jobs I ought to be doing, like housework!

    Have a good day everyone

    Hugs Hester

  • Good morning everyone.

Kids got us up bright and early this morning but I don't mind really, it's the only time of the week I get to post on this thread! Going to spend the day in the garden I think. Weather isn't great and I've got a mountain of washing to do so wish me luck! I plan on getting the kids outside and helping to pull up the weeds regardless. DS (8) has birthday party this evening which he is very excited about, bit of a PITA to be honest, right on teatime on a Sunday night.

Got a nice quiet week ahead of me so in a good mood.

Good luck to your daughter Hester! I am 17 weeks pregnant and have just started to feel little movements. I hope all goes well and you have a lovely new squishy person very soon. x
  • Good morning,

Hester thank you for starting the thread today, and hope your DD progresses well today and you soon have another beautiful grandchild.

Very overcast here this morning. We are popping to Costco when it opens at 11 and then off to Sister and brother in law's for lunch about an hours drive away. i am providing the apple pie, hence the visit to Costco:) it will be good to see them both.

Have a good day everyone and hugs to all poorlies.

It's a bit overcast today but is supposed to brighten up later. Washing on the line anyway. Ironing done, DW on, pancakes made. Kitchen floor washed yesterday - very OS, I had some washing up water that was hardly used so used it to clean the very dirty floor.

Everywhere still covered in plaster dust but that should ease now for a while. Friends from across the road came over to look how we were getting on with DDs room and I had a bit of a meltdown, I couldn't see where to start. Anyway, they came over and got me back on track, I had to sand the walls and they washed them all down, one painted the ceiling (twice) and their 8 year old undercoated all the shelves that we put outside. Honestly don't know what I would do without them.

DD is up there now starting so I should go and paint some more! Have a lovely Sunday everyone, hope you're all ok. Take care. XX

    Morning :hello:

I was cold last night, I fell asleep on the sofa under my multi-coloured far-too-bright crocheted blanket with my head on a cushion, which has a multi-coloured far-too-bright crocheted cover. The two don't match so look very odd together :D It's not much warmer this morning, it's very dull and grey at the moment.

I need to empty out and scrub the chicken shed again – mites AGAIN  I've bought a different treatment - diatomaceous earth. Some people swear by it, some say it useless, I'll try it and see.

I wasn't very moneysaving this week - I got fed up waiting to see if 5USA were going to actually going to buy and air season 6 of Sons Of Anarchy, so I bought it second hand on DVD. Sooooo glad I did – wow :D Wish Jax would wash his hair though, lol

    Morning everyone.

After my great sleep yesterday last night it was awful. Woke at 1.30 and didn't get off again til after 3.30. Got a neatly start tomorrow so will be in bed extra early.

Didn't buy more pots yesterday but did get a load of bulbs and herbs which I laid out in the garden last night. It was too hot to plant out before Dr Who and too dark afterwards.

I ordered two new rugs for the living room too. We've been using two old and marked pieces of 'spare' carpet from years ago and they looked horrid.

Car boot almost empty. Left the duvet and emergency supplies in as I travel a fair distance every week and need to feel sure that I can keep warm and watered if I get stuck. Just habit really.

Hope the greyness burns off, must have rained during the night.

Good luck with new on the way babies, babies not yet ready to arrive and everyone else too.

    Happy Sunday.

    Morning all

HH positive vibes for dd hope that baby soon arrives x

tru hope you can get rd of the mites x

Haven't read the thread for a few days, ((( hugs))) to those who need.

Got back from 5 days in Cornwall , what a beautiful place , we had a great time , so much to see and do and the weather was fabulous , it was even warm enough to swim in the sea :D. We made it as money saving as we could . We were self catering so made our own breakfasts and evening meal and used lunch to sample the local delights such as cream tea, Cornish pasty, rick steins fish and chips :D
The DDs really enjoyed it too.

Working my way through a huge mound of washing now of course.
I made a chilli yesterday for dinner and have lots of rice left as I catered for dd1s boyfriend and he didn't have any, so think I'll make an egg fried rice so as not to waste it. Just need to think of something to go with it .
So far this morning the animals and fish have been fed, the WM is on and I've switched the gas and electric saving £269 :j:money:

Off to have breakfast , have a lovely day everyone xx

I had almost the same...wrong password though I did get the email with a new one. Can't understand it as I've had the same one for a while and it's autosaved.

    Sorry about the user name.
  • Morning, bright and sunny, but a chill in the air.

OH bowling today, so have the day to myself. Nothing planned.

Roast chicken for supper, its a larger one that I usually buy, thanks to last weeks chicken being 'off' ( the dustbin did stink when they emptied it on Friday!!)

I will be makiing it stretch over more meals.
