I live in one - it's a very quiet area, considering so close to town.

Unfortunatly there is a public right of way, only a tiny footpath, right past my flat, which is a cut through thats not used a great deal, which would be nice not to have.

Also the road ends with our row of gargaes, bit awkward for turning, if you've a large vehicle. Also a problem if you are driving a stolen 4x4 and being chased by the Police and cant brake fast enough.

my previous house was the last house in a cul de sac .All the local kids used to play football outside it .
This time I live in the middle of a cul de sac .

  • lived in a cul de sac until I was 18, and my last two houses (now much older than 18) have been cul de sacs and wouldn't choose a house anywhere else, especially now I have children.

My last house was in a small cul-de-sac, then they made it bigger by building on the field we had at the bottom. It was better when it was smaller and everyone knew if there were any strangers around. The only disadvantage and it was no big deal was lots of kids would come into our little close to play 'cos it was safer for them.

  • I like them, but not the tiny ones with just a few houses like THIS.

Too much of a lack of privacy, people seeing everything you do. Too familiar. I don't mind the bigger ones though.

What I HATE though, is the post 1980s phenomenon of a cul de sac in a cul de sac in a cul de sac.
Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

    hmmm, let me think...
    - through road: potential constant traffic, inability of kids to play in the street, no sense of community
    - cul-de-sac; the opposite!!!!!

my friend lives in a cul de sac with four houses .All the houses have the same landlord . Last week the landlord called and asked who was the disabled woman who had visited .The old man across the road had told the landlord about her having difficulty getting out of the car.
