Sky Talk cut off early?

Hey guys-

Moving everything to BT Sky on Monday however just noticed our land line is down and can't make/receive calls. Think it went down last night but was deffo out this morning. Only found when someone said they tried to call us when we were in! Phoned Sky and they said it was an exchange problem or possibly BT preparing to take over line early but i thought i would have line till Monday with Sky and any issues with line would be on Monday?? Surely if they're doing something intentionally that will take the line out for a couple of days they should let customer know (regardless of who did it).

Now here's the thing! I went into my Sky account and went to my package section and the only things that have green ticks are the Sky Fibre unlimited and Sky Hub fibre. This is correct as i am still online but have no line for calls. The Sky talk part of my package gives the option of 'discover sky talk today' which suggests to me that i no longer have sky talk. So as far as i'm concerned the sky package part of the site is correct but sky, even after checking with escalations, say everything is running fine till Monday? Like i said sky are saying they are still providing sky talk even though my account tells me correctly they are not!:rotfl:

Anyone heard of this before. Don't want to contact BT yet as i have £250 quidco riding on it!!

cheers

yep happened to me last week when i swooped to plusnet, lost the phone line from Friday but fibre still worked, Monday turned up plusnet turned on and all was fine, Sky denied it with me as well, but as far as i can tell they are turning things off early, probably to make people think its not worth switching, call me cynical but thats what it feels like
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)
  • Thanks gonzo,

Agree that i think they may be doing this! They are phoning me later. It's not a money thing i just want them to tell me that they have done this (intentionally) and not advised me.

Ironic thing is, i'm a bit concerned going forward about BT's customer service after reading reviews and would have given Sky high marks in this department. They have blamed an exchange issue even though i still get my broadband and also said it may be possibly BT preparing line early. I dont think so.
  • Response today-

'As we discussed today, I am sorry that you have not had access to your telephone services since Friday 12 September. This is due to BT Retail ciommencing providing you with your new services to start activation on Momday 15 September.

I trust your new services will be activated without frurther issue to you.'

So why i have still got broadband i said. 'You were just lucky and possibly an oversight on BT's behalf' says he.

Apparently this is standard prodecure and the moral of the tale is don't move services on Monday as according to Sky that you could lose all of your services from the previous friday till your new service is active.

I think whatever way you cut it Sky are out of order here and guilty of at least not telling me this was happening. Personally i'm not convinced with their response and think they have done more here than they claim to have done.

It may not be Sky's fault.....all the work in the exchange is carried out by BT Openreach on behalf of the ISPs via BT Wholesale - even the equipment owned by Sky,TalkTalk etc is BTO responsibility. What may have happened is that the BTO engineer has been carrying out work on another issue on the Friday, has noticed that he has another switching job to do on Monday,so has decided to save himself time and a second visit by doing the changeover early!
As so many other posters have testified, Openretch are a law unto themselves!!
