O2 Insurance

I don't think so because you are paying a fee for the account instead. If you do decide to take up the account, remember that you can get £80 cashback via Quidco meaning you'll technically only be paying £40 for one year's cover. Just make sure the policy covers everything you want it to before you sign up.0

Do you have to pay in a minimum amount into the Nationwide account every month?
You do not need to have a min pay in every month to use this account. Only to get the interest rates etc.
I have one of these Nationwide flex plus accounts myself
IMO everyone in the country should be looking into getting these if they pay phone insurance. The fee is £10 a month and covers every phone in your family. Me and my fianc! dont live together yet but have a joint account (the nationwide one) just so that both our phones are insured for £10 a month combined fee.
Included in this £10 fee are:
Phone insurance for any phone in the house
Travel insurance
Brake down cover
perfect for only £10 a month. £120 a year for all that? no brainer.0 -
Thanks for your replies.
I am really in 2 minds about what to do. I have my bank account with first direct and don't really want to change as I'm really happy with them. Though I have to admit the Nationwide account does look good.
On one hand I think cancelling the insurance and just putting that money aside each month would be the best bet. But on the other hand, I am at a greater risk with all the travelling I do. The O2 insurance is good as it offers next day replacement, but then doesn't cover unauthorised calls - which could be very expensive if someone uses my phone abroad.
Hmmm, a difficult decision for me!
Have both. I currently have 3 current accounts. 1 where my wages go. Another (nationwide) purely for their insurance and a 3rd which is just where I keep my money I can actually spend (they also insure my ipad)
In total I pay £17.50 a month (£12.50 personally and £5 from my misses) to insure 2 Iphones, 1 Ipad, Brakedown cover on my car for th both of us. Travel insurance.
There is no decision tbh. You would be crazy not to open a nationwide account. You only have to put £10 a month in to cover the fee. Or just leave £120 in it and it will cover the year taking £10 out the last day of every month.0 -
It does look like a great deal. I just don't know if I would use the benefits. I have free full AA cover through my car manufacturer Seat, so wouldn't need the breakdown cover.
In terms of the mobile phone cover, it does seem very comprehensive though. However I could get cheaper with Insurance2Go, if I decided to continue insuring my mobile.
And not sure if I would really use the Travel Insurance either.
But I agree it seems a very good account for someone that would use all the benefits.0 -
The £80 cashback from Quidco would surely make Nationwide cheaper than Insurance2Go for the first year? Also, if you are able to maintain an in credit balance of at least £1670, you would get the rest of the cost back through interest, so it'd essentially be free. Even if you can't maintain that balance, any in credit balance would allow you to bring the cost down to below £40. After the year is up, close the account and switch to Insurance2Go.0

Oh yes that does sound like a no brainer then! Thanks for that. The cover looks really comprehensive as well.0
