No such thing as an accident as someone or something is to blame, that's why the previous used term RTA has been changed to RTC. Viewing the health and safety film" nobody's fault" should point you in the right direction.

So if the OP has spun their car and not hit anything how can they have had a Road Traffic Collision?

People still have accidents, they have always had accidents and will continue to have accidents. This 'there is always someone to blame' attitude is one of the reasons these ambulance chasing solicitors flourish and why the most minor of accidents keeps roads closed for hours.

But there is always someone to blame, usually the person claiming it's an accident. Certainly not suggesting that anyone should claim for an incident that's their own fault and I have no idea why you assumed that I did. Perhaps you should read my reply correctly.
  • The police report element will be the statistical report that is submitted in the case of all rtcs in the event that there is an insurance claim. The report holds details of vehicle(s) involved, driver(s), owner(s), any witnesses that includes passengers, damage to any vehicles involved, injuries sustained, I durance details, and brief details of what happened. Insurance companies and presumably companies like the ones that have lettered you have to go through the proper channels and have to pay the police for a copy of this report. The fact they said no action would be taken refers only to there being no charges against you and you won't have to attend a court of law in relation to the incident.

Something can be your fault and be an accident.
If I crash in to the back of you then of course I'm to blame, but it wasn't on purpose, it was accidental.
