Are they transferable - could be worth taking a look & see if you can transfer the holiday to a different name & the fee for such then trying to sell it. You won't get back the entirity of your outlay but you could get back a fair whack of it.
Question is why on earth did you chose "protect my bubble" - a well known technology "insurer" with a less than sparkling reputation as opposed to a known & trusted travel insurance broker?!?Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
You may not be able to blaim on your travel insurance because she is pregnant, however i would be very surprised if they dont pay out if you get a doctors letter advising not to travel..
In regards to another poster saying about "pre-existing" any travel insurance ive taken being pregnant isnt an issue at all0 -
BA do not allow name changes. Your options will be to check the rules of the flights and see if you can change the dates (some BA tickets allow changes for £60/£100/£150 plus any difference in fare)
or cancel and reclaim the taxes
If you are not wanting to pay to change the dates (if that is even an option with your type of ticket) Your other option is to leave the bookings as they are and wait and see if there are any schedule changes (the summer timetable starts end March so there is a possibility that your flight times will be changed) If there is a change of times, you may have the option to cancel for full refund (assuming the changes is a few hours)0 -
If your doctor deems it inadvisable to fly then so long as the insurance doesn't completely exclude pregnancy you'd be able to claim from your insurance on medical grounds for cancellation.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Not true at all, lots of travel insurers offer products specifically for pregnant women. You can get insurance for everything, it's just a question of how much it's going to cost.
Edit: Sorry, I just realized we're talking about two different things. I wasn't suggesting that the OP take out travel insurance now and then attempt to cancel because of the pregnancy. That, of course, wouldnt work. What I was suggesting was that the OP move the holiday forward and then take out appropriate insurance for that holiday.0 -
Booking with Expedia will probably mean the tickets can't be changed.
If you had booked with BA maybe it would have been possible although they are not as amenable as some other airlinestravelover0 -
Q Am I covered if I'm pregnant?
A. Yes – cover under your policy is provided for unforeseen events. In particular, cover is provided under Section 1 for unforeseen bodily injury or illness. Pregnancy and childbirth are not considered to be either an illness or injury. For the avoidance of doubt, please note that cover is ONLY given under Sections 1, 3, 4 and 5 of the policy wording for claims arising from complications of pregnancy and childbirth. Please make sure you read the definition of "complications of pregnancy and childbirth" given in your policy wording under the "Meaning of Words".
What is not covered:f) any claims for costs related to pregnancy or childbirth unless the claim isPregnancy and Childbirth;

Cant be possible, has to be actual complications.
As long as you can get your doctor to lie and say you are suffering from pre-eclampsia or the pregnancy is ectopic then yes the insurance would pay out but then you may as well get your doctor to lie and say you've had a heart attack or some other non-pregnancy related medical condition and avoid any possible argument over the pregnancy exclusions.0 -

Strange, as I had exactly the same issue when the wife got pregnant and the doctor just gave us a letter saying in his opinion it was unsafe to fly at that stage of the pregancy, and given after a certain stage the airline wont carry you without a doctors letter they paid out without any hassle at all0 -

Possible complications won't do. It has to be an actual complication from this list:For the purposes of this Policy Complications of Pregnancy and Childbirth
shall only be deemed to include the following: toxaemia, gestational
hypertension, pre-eclampsia, ectopic pregnancy, hydatidiform mole (molar
pregnancy), post partum haemorrhage, retained placenta membrane, placental
abruption, hyperemesis gravidarum, placenta praevia, stillbirths, miscarriage,
medically necessary emergency Caesarean sections/medically necessary termination
and any premature births more than 8 weeks (or 16 weeks in the case of a known
multiple pregnancy) prior to the expected delivery date.0
