An effective tactic is to write to the MD's wife (if the MD is a man that is; this won't work the other way around) at their home address - that will get things sorted! That's what we do if someone won't pay us their debt! :D

Is that not a little underhand and dubious, not to mention, perhaps, a little bit of a problem when it comes to issues such as the regulations surrounding data protection!!

You may be a hyper-pedantic when it comes to grammar, it's a shame the same cannot be said of your ethics or business practice.

i found the best way to deal with big companies is to threaten them by going public, reporting stories to the media.

Christ she was only asking peoples advice ..

Who cares if she's looking out for her daughter or if someone has spelt Tesco wrong?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I for one have more important things to do than be rude to people over the internet!!!

Anyway, back on the topic :) I know its not a supermarket but my boss had a problem with a well known mobile phone shop (no names mentioned CFW ha) and they refused to budge on this money she `owed` or prove how she `owed it` so she rang them and said she was going to take them to watchdog and contact the newspapers ... she then sent a letter to that effect .. 2 days later she got a letter saying that the outstanding money had been wiped off her account ..

Not sure if anything like that would work though seeing as Tesco is a huge multi-national company .. worth a try though maybe?! xx

I have an idea.... let your daughter deal with it!

And sending an email to Terry Leahy won't exactly get his direct attention.

If you speak to CS in a polite manner you should get on fine.

Please take note of the second half of my signature too.....

Tried that for over 2 months, and still sitting with a broken phone, and have never raised my voice or called anyone a useless git, Yet. Worse still, I reported the phone fault within 4 days of receiving it.

Recently by luck I check our shopping bill and noticed that the food product we bought was not given on sales price for several items. When I went to raise the concern the manager at the Brixton store was not only rude but dismissive. The explanation was that we should have read the lable carefully, despite the sales lable was place next to the other product that contain one Word more then then the product on sale. What more suprisingly is that the frozen sale food had a whole section on it own, yet Tesco decide to place on row along the other product not on sale. Packaging look similar and there is only one word in between these two product. More importantly the sale product was burry underneath the none product and the sale lable was no where near place the sale prodcut even if you manage to see it.

The only explanation the Brixton branch manager can give is, it's up to the customer to read the lable carefully (the print are very small and the product name is very long).

When I quoted him the Sales of Goods act where pricing and labelling should be clear and not decisiving, he shows he was aware of the law but very dismissive as he kept on emphasising that it is up to customer to read the lable carefully.

So be warned, two products out of a few things we bought, is not a good sign. Tesco seem to think 'every little thing help' is a helping hand to themself against the poor and vunlnerable.

I hope this is only one branch.

The customer service was apauling too, I think majority of people in Brixton store need some training - far different to the one I have seen at Bank .. Its a real shame there is people skills problem as much as flaunting the law.

Haven't used food shopping at Tesco but have found CS very helpful at Tesco Direct. Had a bed delivered with a damaged drawer and they arranged a replacement and gave £30 off the price.

you could put your complaint/problem here its a web address, tescocomplaints.weebly.com and it will be acted on :)

the OP has sorted it by now,
  • i purchased a lap top from Tesco's and within 5 weeks the fan started to play up. all tesco did was to put me in touch with acer. I rang Acer who said that they would pick the lap top up at my home address and that if it was damaged during transit I would be liable. I was not having this so I gtook the computer back to the shop who I had the contract with. The staff no nothing about your rights under the law and in the end i was escorted out of the store by security. before i was escorted out of the store I said it's your problem sort it out. My advice to you is do not buy anything apart from beans from Tesco as they will treat you like dirt if something goes wrong.

Returning a faulty item is not a problem - if you have a receipt. If you buy an expensive item - especially electrical - staple the receipt to the instructions, so it's always available.

You have up to 28 days to return an item with out a problem, (but you'll need a receipt to show the time), after that time - within the guarrantee period the Electrical Help Line will give you guidance - 'my TV remote doesn't work' 'have you put the batteries in?' 'oh no, sorry' - it does happen; failing that helping they'll give a reference no to return to the store with.
Stores have procedures that they adhere to, no amount of shouting is going to change that - which is why I suspect security were called.
If you believe their procedures do not follow the 'law' you'll need to write in to head office about that.
