Rival estate agent business card through the door
Is this common practice? Not that I'm overly bothered, just curious...

When I had my house for sale I had a rival EA knock on the door and badmouth my EA. I gave him short shrift. They will say just about anything to get business. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Just had a look online and rather than being an estate agent it looks like a property developer....hmm0

We'd had our house on the market for about a week before we started receiving letters off a "rival" EA basically saying "your current agent are clearly incompetent, since your house is taking SOOOOOOO long to sell, so why not tell 'em where to shove it and come to us?"
The person we were dealing with at the agent was most unamused, and shot straight round to their office to tell them exactly what she thought of 'em. Wish I'd been a fly on the wall...0 -
Yes, expert to get letters and all sorts from other local agents touting for business.0

It would appear to be standard practice for some agents. We're under offer and our house shows as sold subject to contract and wer're still getting letters and business cards through the post............0

ANd when you sell, you get all the removal companies sending cards...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I guess you could argue that the EA is being creative and proactive in getting new clients on his books.
Some people might say that's the sort of EA they want selling their house.
Who knows?0 -
