Arrow Communications Cessation Charges

Hey,

I was after some help. My charity hold seven mobile phone numbers on a single account with Arrow Communications.

We are paying an awful lot for calls and line rental. I am trying to move to a new supplier.

Our 24 month contract is now expired and I have given Arrow Communications their 30 days notice and I have asked for PAC details in order for us to keep the numbers.

They have responded with a £182 bill.

This is comprised of remaining line rental at £.50 a day for each of the seven lines for a total of £63. This I understand.

They have also charged an admin fee of £17 per line for supplying one PAC. (£119 net admin in total)

Can I dispute this charge?

We are a small youth charity based in Edinburgh. Keeping costs down enables us to spend the money we receive from funders on working with disadvantaged young people in our community.

Any advice from the MSE hive mind would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Yes - if the contact and the tariff of charges say nothing about this.

If it's a business contract rather than a domestic, then some of them do have a charge for supplying the pac.

You'd need to read the contract you agreed when you started the contract.

As above. You need to read the T&C. They cant charge for a PAC on retail mobile contracts but they can (if its in the T&C) for business contracts. This is just one of the reasons why its such a big deal with scumbag third party 'partner' companies signing customers up to business contracts when they should be retail ones.

    >> What is a Porting Authorisation Code(PAC)?
Mobile phone customers have the right to take their number with them when they switch provider. This is known as known as mobile number portability
    ...

Some mobile phone providers may charge you a fee to move your number.
Typically for Ofcom, it isn't clear though if it's the new provider only that can charge or both.
